WIN 98 Shut-off Problems

In preparation for leaving for Taiwan I have FDISKed my drives and re-installed Windows 98 SE. In the 48 hours since I did this it has blue screened three times and won’t shut down, even though it worked OK before I removed it from this very computer and installed Windows 2000. I had the same installation of Win 2k on this machine for 2 years and it only BSODed twice, once with a new faulty hard drive, and the other time was when I put in the wrong kind of memory. Boy is W98 a drag after W2K.

I use to have the same problem, I just upgraded to Win 2k professional to fix the problem. Since then I have had 0 problems. But I would still suggest you upgrade to XP, but it really depends on how old the rest of your hardware is, if you are not sure I’d go with Win 2K Pro.
