please recommend a wireless printer that I can buy in Taiwan
I’m going home (to Manila) later this week and I want to bring one back to my folks.
They use Windows XP, and their computers all have Wifi.
Also, do Lexmark printers fall under the IBM global warranty? I’m wondering that if I bought a Lexmark here, and it broke down over there, then they would just have to bring it to the IBM service center for repair
Gus, the only one i currently know is the HP2510, last time i looked they were about NT$15,000 so not a cheap option.
It would be cheaper to buy a normal printer, attach it to one PC and then network that printer.
Alternatively, what you could do is buy a wireless hub with a printer port and attach it that way.
Gus, what Traveller said. You can easily set up the printer for the network. Takes about a minute per computer to setup, test and verify. Who know what might happen on the plane ride over to Manila to that nice printer in between all that lifestock

Lexmark has one of the worst reputations of all in two areas:
They put some chip in their inkjet cartridges so you can only use Lexmark cartridges (which cost a fortune). Stick in a generic cartridge, and the machine self-destructs. Actually, I’ve had that happen with Epson too.
Notorious for making “Windows printers”. You won’t have the option of using them with Linux.
I’m not an expert on recent printers (I still use a dot-matrix), but others have told me (take with the usual grain of salt) that Canon printers are good about allowing you to use any generic cartridges. I can’t say much more than that.

It’s kind of tricky these days since pretty much all printers use USB. You can get a wireless router/print server like the SMC 2804WBRP-Ghttp://www.jpcl.com.tw/item.asp?item_id=13399.
I haven’t seen global printer warranties, but since they’re so cheap anyway it’s usually not a problem. One thing with Lexmark’s is that you want to consider how much the cartridges cost.
How about the apple airport express, exept for the wireless usb printserver is has some more features.
