Woman chased down by police for displaying flag
It’s a double irony that the KMT, who is supposed to be representing and supporting the ROC is suppressing its own flag and symbol and the DPP, who views the ROC as an imposition of China, is now upset it can’t use the ROC flag against China.

Something this convoluted is something that could only happen in Taiwan or China.

It strikes me more as essentially the DPP are anti-China. In the absence of the real China, the KMT is a good proxy. When the real China shows up, you grab the ROC flag.

Personally, I find it a bit of a disgrace that even the KMT would suppress the national flag for these bozos from across the straits. The Chinese, “street”, sure got a kick out of it.
I totally agree and AC is not getting it at all -_- :astonished:

Are you THAT narrow minded AC?

Your talking about how people should be judged because he/she belonged to a group and that group is deemed a nut job because of that one guy?!

Okay, so looking from your argument we have determined that Ma is a pussy (see the other topic in this forum) and so therefore you are saying that your own KMT party is a pussy. Hey we all think he is a pussy, so we might as well label the entire KMT party a pussy, because that one guy is a big pussy, so therefore he and all his friends and political party is a bunch of pussies. We don’t care what you think, because according to your other arguments from before, the majority rules right? The minorities don’t matter? The majorities opinion matters the most? So we all agree how MA is a pussy and how your a Pussy and all KMT’s are pussies, does that make us right? IF the majority of the people in a country says Murder is legal, would it be right?
You getting it yet?

I see with an argument like that I guess the DPP will regain power hopefully by my grandkid’s generation.

Hmm…as angry as people are with the DPP, it could be sooner than you think with the way things are going.

I don’t see how anyone who is in the blue camp appreciate what just happened.

That’s assuming you know I quickly I might become a grandparent.

The 3 connects, nobody in the blue camp wanted that. Using Violent Tsai to lead a mob and allow them to protest in Taipei, nobdoy in the green camp wanted that.

Besides a few partisan drama in media, I think everyone got what they wanted last week. Even those Strawberries…

  1. I don’t know how old you are, for all I know you are already a grandparent

  2. you make it sound as if the green camps are a bunch of hooligans, and you’ve pretty much ignored my previous argument
I want to point out, I’ve witness KMT violence first hand here in the US and when 200 KMT men and woman ganging up on 2 helpless old couples are despicable
OH! And shockingly, your 200 KMT mob was a bunch of stronny pussies thought they could win with their numbers alone.
Boy were they wrong…and the KMT media made the two old couple look like the bad guys because 12 of the 200 people (all men mind you) were beaten down by the old man.

  3. Your a communists lover aren’t you? You can’t even praise the wild strawberry movement? (though, personally i think the name is kind of cheesy) but still…

  1. I am the alpha and omega of Han. When my grandkids come they will be the 77th generation of ac’s to bless this rock in space. But first I have to register the 76th generation…

In a few more years the 76th generation of ac’s will be able to vote. I will teach them about the Taiwanese party that called their grandmother a “mainland whore.” I will teach them about the the ugly Taiwanese in our family tree that called their grandfather a “WSR lapdog.” I will teach them not to hate a person for the dialect they speak or don’t speak. Most of all I will teach them about the evil man, prisoner 2630, that banned video games in Taipei. Hopefully they will pass that on to the 77th generation of ac’s.

  1. It kind of hard to take the DPP seriously, because until lasts year their leaders were all former convicts.

So KMT are immune from the cops in the US too? What incident are you talking about?

I doubt there are 2 active KMT members in the US, let alone 200 ready to organize themselves in the US.

  1. Sure I praise the Strawberries for illustrating the division in the green camp all the time. Thank you Strawberries for demonstrating how to have a peaceful demonstration as oppose to a Violent Tsai “seize the city” mob movement.

I think a FLG once called me a commie lover when I refuse to take her newspaper. I mean seriously checking off Democrat on those forms sure does attract a lot negative attention these days.

  • Are you a recent victim of Green or Blue Terror?

My family had been a victim of oppressive KMT rule for decades, the KMTs done worse things to us than the japs.
Your party murdered tens of thousands of our people and took away our wealth and land when you brought socialism over. My grandfather who was once extremely wealthy in Taiwan, became poor when the kmts came over. If it were up to me I’d execute every surviving members of the old KMT and return all of the land back to the people of Taiwan.

OH the KMT’s are very active over here in DC. They got a lot of lobbiests. If the green party is relatively new to the political field and hasn’t really been playing their cards right. The KMT’s on the other hand are smart and plays their cards right, not to mention they are set financially.

::Deep breath:::

The hate, between KMT and DPP(Taiwanese in general) is deep. The green party hates you because of what your party has done in the past. The blue party hates us because they grew up hated and despised by the people.
Truth be told, there is a side of me that wants to…do very…very…very bad things to the KMTs.
You said they were all convicts, they were political prisoners, they were lawyers, advocated and activists.
To us, you guys are the ones that belong in jail and should rot there forever. :fume:

They say hate is taught and learned, and i see from what you wrote that you are going to teach your kids the same thing. But do you seriously want to alienate your kids? I don’t know where you are, but if your in Taiwan and teaching them to hate Taiwanese, is not only a wise decision, but a morally wrong one as well. I’m using a great deal of restraint right now to keep myself from saying some pretty hateful things to you, but i sincerely believe that despite these strong hatred between the two parties, so long as both parties show a little restraint they can probably do things that can benefit the country and not just the parties.

It is pretty hard to have a conversation with someone if all they want to do is kill politicians.

But if your anger is with the “old KMT” why are are you still mad at the “new KMT.” The “old KMT” members like LTH and James Soong aren’t even in the KMT anymore.

Really? Where have I taught my children hate their Taiwanese heritage or to have a desire to kill politicians?

My father side of the family still has a long running dispute over land and wealth in Taiwan. My philosophy on the matter is if one has the ability, one can generate far greater wealth by freeing oneself from past disputes and focusing on taking advantage of current opportunities.

Killing politicians won’t get land nor wealth back. Just doesn’t seem productive.

AC, if everything was that simple, then you agree that if the DPP would have done forcefully the apprehension of KMT’s stolen assets, it would be ok, as some generations later it would be forgiven and forgotten. The past is the past, and we have to look at the future is something that only works in dreamland.

The KMT was never held accountable in Taiwan, so the anger still persists.

mr_boogie,

If you have proof of KMT stolen assests than go after them, the DPP had 8 years and the KMT corrected most of the property the DPP had issues with.

If the KMT were not held accountable to Taiwan, what are they doing running the place now. Isn’t that a bit of an exaggeration. More like the greens were never able to politically prosecute the KMT like they desired. That is far different from having evidence and having trail in an open court.

I’m just saying there is a time and place for everything. If you’re going to look at Taiwan society through the lens of land reformation, 228 and white terror forever, I just don’t think it is very productive.

Could you image a present day board meeting with Chinese and Japanese talking about flatscreen TV production and the Chinese side wanting to discussing the business transaction through the lens of the Nanjing Massacre or secret medical experiments in Dongbei.

Most Taiwanese of my generation are okay with the Chinese and Taiwanese identity coexisting in Taiwan. Are okay with WSR/BSR relationship. Never really lived under martial law for any extended period of time. Our biggest concern is PRC relationship and the Strait Issue in terms of economic progress and reducing tensions that could lead to war.

But hey if they feel killing politicians will make Taiwan better, they are entitled to their opinions. Although I do find it interesting they are never critical of their leadership even when they do something wrong. I mean I was outraged with Wang Jing Ping made racist comment against WSR when running against MYJ. I told other KMT supporters that this is not an individual ready to lead Taiwan.

Everything from VP Lu ethnic gaffes to Frankie’s less than honorable campaign methods. Not a peep on how to improve their party and limiting what they are willing to tolerate in their leadership.

AC,

  1. KMT Assets. There is no need to prove that the KMT stole assets. Please remember that the KMT was a political party on the run from the mainland. They ended up here in Taiwan as “losers” against the communist party. As “losers” and foreigners to this country, how would you explain their acquisition of assets? The only way the KMT “acquired” the assets was by stealing them from the Taiwanese people. Also, the “KMT corrected most of the property” by selling the property and pocketing the cash.

  2. The KMT is running this country because of LIES told by Ma during the campaign. A better economy, thousands of mainland tourists each day, US$30K annual income for everyone…I could go on. But as we’ve seen in the past 6 months and by his own admissions, all of those things were just campaign rhetoric, not promises.

  3. I don’t think you can compare oppression of a country to business negotiations. The KMT terrorized the people of Taiwan for decades. The people of Taiwan deserve a sincere apology from the KMT (which we will never get).

I personally am not a big fan of the DPP, but the KMT is worse. Looking at their policies of the past six months, I have become ever more concerned about the future of this beautiful COUNTRY. The spending vouchers, the 12 big projects (which, by the way, will be open for bidding to firms with foreign investors) and various other expensive projects are a means to deplete Taiwan’s finances and pave the way for KMT’s ultimate goal of unifying with the PRC. Once the finances of Taiwan are depleted, the KMT can make the claim that the only way for Taiwan to survive is to unify with and become a part of the PRC.

I could go on, but I won’t.

Oh…on a final note, today’s news, Ma’s savings increased by NT$12mil in the last six months. Of course, the claim is that it is from his wife’s retirement fund (NT$6mil) and other investments. I would like to say, while everyone has been losing their pants in the investment sector, Ma and his wife made NT$6mil??? If this is the case, forget handing out the spending vouchers, give that budget to Ma and let him invest it! He could make the country a lot of money!

  1. Following that logic everyone took land from the aboriginals since the beginning of time. If you think the land reform on Taiwan and government own industry was a bad thing, there is not much of a debate.

  2. Welcome to a democracy. Campaign promises are promises. Where’s the Republic of Taiwan CSB promised everyone? If you want a democracy then be prepared to targeted for marketing. Candidates will stay on script to illicit your support. Once they have your vote, they can do whatever they want. That’s the principle of a republic. We the people give up the right to make decision so that leadership can. Sure you can bitch and moan when the party your not supporting isn’t leading. But’s that’s the only outlet you’re suppose to have in a democracy. So enjoy, while the pan-Blue enjoy the next 7 years of “selling out Taiwan” as pan-Greens like to put it.

  3. LTH and MYJ terrorized the country, got it.
MYJ profited 12 M. So sue the crap out of him when he is out of office, if it was obtained illegally. It’s not like he’s going anywhere for the next 7 years.

But given his squeaky clean and cheap as polyester 3 piece suit image, good luck trying to prove anything.

Are you fabricating this number out of no where?

From what I just saw on internet news, the retirement fund should be $1.187mil.
c.yam.com/news/nlink/r.c?http:// … 14177.html

This is not an outrageous number, given that she had been working as a high ranking bank officer for years, before MYJ becomes a president.

By the way, I am no fan of Ma’s. He is too wimpy on fighting crooks.

  1. It is not necessary to talk about aborigines. This is about stolen assets in modern times. Let’s not get historic. Give back to the people of Taiwan what you have stolen.

  2. Democracy? What a crock of ____! This KMT led government is no longer a democracy! We are witnessing the downfall of democracy in Taiwan. They may pretend, but do they even care about the voices of ALL citizens or do they just care about the “blue” voices?

  3. I didnt’ say LTH or MYJ. I said the KMT and I didn’t say terrorize (but that may actually be a better word). OPPRESSION was the word I used and it appears that we are headed in that same direction under the current government.

MYJ squeaky clean? Yeah, maybe under the politically biased judicial system.

I stand corrected on the retirement fund. This morning I saw another article that stated it was NT$6mil.

  1. If you have evidence, file a court case about it. MYJ made the bold claim that he will fight all forms of corruption now. And given what he’s been doing, I believe if you have a solid case about “stolen assets” this is the administration to file it with. Taiwan is a country head towards rule of law, so you may believe it is “stolen” because it still needs to go through a court of law.

  2. Yes the downfall of democracy. The man made concessions with the Strawberry movement. The man gave an olive branch to Violent Tsai for a meeting after the riots. Watch democracy fall as the only guy who really believes in Western style democracy act as a leader for all in Taiwan.

You know CSB was a typical Chinese style of leadership, which was take it or leave it. Oh democracy was on the rise under CSB.

  1. LTH and MYJ oppressed Taiwan during their administration. So oppressive to blog, email, sit down protest, etc in Taiwan these days. So oppressive to have the 3 links. So oppressive to get 3600 NTD vouchers.

Under CSB we were unoppressed. Granted he changed the name to everything and shoved it down our throats. I guess we were free to swallow or spit up.

Oh the bias judicial system. Blue and blue the world over. Where can a corrupt green leader get a break these days? Tainan?

AC-dropout: is that another picture of Mayor Ma in your avatar? or a prediction?

  1. MYJ prosecuting all forms of corruption? OH PLEASE! There are currently more than 30 open investigations into corruption by members of the blue party, of which some have been ongoing for more than 3 years. What’s being done about those cases? NOTHING! Have we seen instruction from MYJ or the justice department to hurry with these cases (regardless of whether they are true or false accusations)? Have we seen anything being done about whether or not a certain blue politician is a US citizen in violation of the laws of Taiwan? I would like to point out with respect to this person, the “supposedly” cancelled passport she showed to the press had the stamp “cancelled without prejudice” on it. From my understanding, this stamp is made on lost (and later found) passports or other similar reason, but it does not mean that the person has relinquished their US citizenship.

  2. Talking to the Strawberry movement, offering to talk to the opposition party and blah blah blah. After the protests recently and the downward spiral of his approval rating, MYJ has to do everything possible (even if he doesn’t really want to) to make him look good in the eyes of the people. Actually, I think the DPP and the Strawberry movement have made big mistakes by making news and taking the attention away from the inept government.

  3. Please read my post carefully, I said the oppression took place in the past, not today. If they openly tried that today, there would be people pushing for the overthrow of this goverment.

Yes, the biased judicial system. It is funny why there is not much inquiry into why a prosecutor would make a trip to Japan to negotiate with fugitive who’s been on the run for two years. After this visit by the prosecutor, the fugitive (who has more than enough money to stay on the run) decides to return to Taiwan to face prosecution. Even more, the fugitive’s cases are all moved to the Special Prosecutor’s Office, where there will be no scrutiny on how they handle the matters. The fugitive is granted bail, which is paid by check. The funny things is, the amount of bail is usually decided at the end of the interrogation by the prosecutor’s office (not before, not during), which leads to the question, were the terms of the fugitive’s return to Taiwan agreed to by the prosecutor’s office? He comes back, rats out CSB, gets bailed out, no restrictions on travel and after the media sensation has settled a bit, he leaves the country again?

Everyone is entitled to their own views and opinions, but from what I see with the current government, I’m sad and concerned for the future of Taiwan.

Why do you disrespect TI?

ABC-Law,

  1. MYJ already stated he doesn’t get involved with the judiciary process of on going cases. I’m not familar with that case you are referring to.

  2. MYJ ratings have been going up since, so he must be doing something right last couple of weeks.

  3. So you admit neither oppression nor terrorizing of Taiwan’s public is occuring right now. Well that settles that.

Jeffery Koo’s the scion of China Trust Banks deal or no deal issue. Well we can only wait and see now.

Why do you disrespect TI?

ABC-Law,

What he says and what he does are two differnent things.

The effect of the 3600 vouchers? Support buying with our tax dollars?

Go after one group at a time. Demonize then take them out. Divide and conquer. Oldest trick in the book. The KMT has a lot of experience with this.
