WORD Problem

Yes, I know MS products suck big time but I can’t help it (company mandated), so no choice.

Anyhow, I have a word document with a table of content (TOC) on the 2nd page. After that I have inserted a page break and that’s where the actual document starts with a Heading 1 style.
After I finished I use the ‘Update Field / Update entire table’ function so that the page numbers would be correct, i.e. correspond to the headings.
For some reason that updates removes the page break and pulls the first heading (and everything else that follows) up so it starts just a line below the end of the TOC (and not on the next page as intended).
Obviously I don’t want that so if I insert another page break the TOC isn’t correct. If I update the TOC again my layout isn’t correct. Well, you see the problem.

Any help appreciated (beside suggestions to format the harddisk and install Linux).

Maybe instead of using a page break, you can right-click the first heading and choose Paragraph. Then select Page break before on the Line and Page Breaks tab.

Thanks, I tried that but it didn’t work. I found a work-around solution by inserting an empty line on the next page (after the page break).
Actually I have similar problems with headers that follow a page break - sometimes I have to insert an empty line but at other times not (in the same document). Sucks.

Format the harddisk and install BSD?
