I think I have what’s basically a simple question, although I haven’t seen it addressed here yet. I’ve lived in Taiwan before but I’m not there now; I will return in late October. My old ARC has been cancelled and I will apply for a new one when I’m there. My employer will apply for my work permit while I am abroad, and they’ll send me the paperwork so I can get my visa.
My plans for the next few weeks are pretty rigid (I’m taking a very intensive course right now), and there are only certain days (in mid-October) when I can go in to TECO to handle the paperwork.
My question: Once the appropriate paperwork has been issued, do I have a limited amount of time in which I can get my visa? If I only have, say, a week, then I’ll need to make sure my employer times it correctly. (I do not, unfortunately, trust them to figure out this information themselves.) Thanks!
At TECO SF it takes 2-3 business days for them to issue the visa after you submit all your paperwork. $140. They told me they could do it in just one business day, but to give them an extra day to be safe. They might also be able to expedite it, but two business days is pretty good.
You have three months to enter from the date of issue. Once you enter, you have 15 days to get yourself to NIA to get your ARC.

Thanks, but my question’s a bit more fundamental and comes before all that: Once the work permit paperwork’s been issued, do I have a limited period of time to take it to TECO? I’m asking because, if I let them, my employer will start the process right now, and I foresee the paperwork sitting idle for 2 weeks after they send it to me before I can do anything with it. Rigid schedule and all that. So I need to know if that’s OK or not.
Ok, I took a look at our work permit and on both the Chinese and English versions, nowhere does it mention a time frame between approval of work permit to applying for visa.
I’m wondering the same thing. Between interviews, other errands, and working, I’ve had zero time to go down to the BOCA building. I wanted to go today, but then realized my funds haven’t cleared from bank->bank to withdraw the $140usd fee.
My work permit doesn’t say anything about dates, but Im just worried. I think, should they be like “Its not valid anymore cause you took too much time” I’ll try to be like “Well, there was the Moon Festival and that took up at least one business day…”
