WQXR -- a top rated classical music station of the New York

If you enjoy classical music, I believe that this top-rated classical music station would enrich your life in Taiwan.

When I was living in New York City more than 30 years ago, I used to tune on everyday to WQXR, the top-rated classical music station sponsored by the New York Times. But I had never thought of being able to tune to the station again when I left New York City in 1972.

Now in this 21st century, the new technology of FM webcasting has enabled me again to tune to my favorite classical music station.

I have found excellent quality of music delivered by my ADSL connection from China Telecom. You may listen to the music with the Window media player (dlownloadable for free), but please change the “buffer setting option” of the media player to 30 sec. from the default 5 sec. Then you will get high-quality static free music.

I hope you and your family will enjoy the station as much as I have.

Good one! Thanks!

Let me elaborate what’s so good about WQXR.

  1. It has a complete programing schedule for the day. So when you are listening to the music, you would know the name of the piece, the orchestra, and the featured artists.

  2. It also provides an exact cd catalog number in case you want to track down the CD.

  3. It has many special programing features, including a weekly church-going service on Sunday.

  4. It gives an interesting bio of each of its announcers who are all very knowledgeable in classical music.
