www.couchsurfing.com is an interesting site, I had a friend come visit me earlier this year and while I was at work he had all these tour guides lined up to show him the city, before I went to India and Europe it was also handy to talk to people there before.
So if you are going somewhere for the first time it is definitely a great resource or if you want to host people coming to Taiwan it is a way to meet people coming here.
Has anyone had any other experiences with the site?

It’s a great site! I hosted a chick from Austria on her way to New Zealand last month and I have a North American couple staying with me this weekend.
Its a great way to help out a stranger in a strange land AND it adds a bit of zest to a dull day. You get to find out so much about them and it makes you feel new to the country again.
I’m gonna use it when I travel this winter/spring as well, but so far I highly recommend signing up. Just please don’t sign up if your intentions are anything but platonic. Its a way people that trust their fellow human can interact/help out and not a dating site.
