I was thinking by myself earlier this morning, after I woke up by the little rumble earthquake…
Ourselves will have the yearly overcooked roast at my parents-in-law place, pop the X-mass Crackers, share the riddles and dry jokes, put on the Crowns while drinking and laughing before heading for the famous Brandy based British pudding. :lick: The churches will be packed , but we will not attend :no-no: as the speech is every year the same… “Peace” you know, as WE, common little people can make the difference…
I’ll be cooking for my family and some friends too. The xmas pudding has been on the shelf for several months fermenting away. Brandy sauce to be prepared on the day.
I’ve always hated xmas and xmas carols ( altar boy for several years in my youth ) and havent thought what gifts to get everybody so they’ll probably get nothing at all.
I might take off to Thailand for several days before xmas to get me into a good enough mood to pass xmas.
Usually we get nice sunshine up here in Alishan so I expect to be eating outside in the front yard in the sun. The tourists will of course stand in the shade shivering, so as to not get too dark.
I was thinking about replacing my plastic christmas tree with a live palm tree (living room size, of course, and potted). After the holiday, i can plant it outside.
I will be sitting in copenhagen, enjoying a traditional Xmas with my girls, my parents, and my siblings. It will all be just as it has been as far back as I can remember, the big tree, the food, the presents, the rituals etc.
Yeah, I had the same bright idea last year (bought some kind of fir at the Jianguo Flower Market) except that every morning we would sweep up little “crumbs” that we thought were just tiny bits of the tree. About a week after we got it, we realized they were hundreds (if not thousands–really) of bugs!!! So teeny tiny we could barely seem them move. Must have been in the soil.
Side note, my mother in law must have had some bugs in the soil of her indoor potted plants because she’s been finding large cicadas in her place. At first we thought they were little toys left over from Halloween!
I’ll be back in Blighty for the first Christmas with the family for four years. Mum will be back from the Phillipines too. Honestly, I’m counting the days. Last time I was there I got raving drunk with my sister…I know what “Blind drunk” means…not that I’d ever do it again…I’m a nice boy…I never do things like that…

I’ll be freezing my nads off in Scotland for my first Christmas at home (and my first winter visit) for 18 years. The old man has had to use his snowplough to clear his road twice this year already.
Tree, lights, loads of kids, some skiing, maybe a bit of outdoor skating… looking forward to it.
I’ll be at a friends house where I’ve been promised a traditional Christmas lunch. I was told that I’m free to bring my own beer, so if things go south I can always get tanked up and enjoy it anyway…
Just got dumped by the girlfriend so depending on how I’m feeling, either out chasing skirts at Carnegie’s or the like or, trying to track down a very large fistful of sleeping pills to chase down with 7-11 bought Jim Beam.
