Xi Jinping seeks 'lovable' image for China in sign of diplomatic rethink -

Shame, shame shame on you all. Okay, some of you…

Don’t you know, the best way to insure that a rude or dissenting opinion gets heard is to ignore or or try to surpress it?
Having a “view ignored content” button is a click me button.
(Exception: blurring nude or pornographic content like toilet paper wrapped women. That’s a click on me later button.)
We’re adults here and we want to see a boxing match with a little blood. They are just words.
If someone says something objectionable, the moderator should come out like a boxing referee, quote the offending comment, state why it’s “hitting below the belt”, then threaten to end the conversation or suspend the offender after reasonable debate.
If comments need to be ignored, let the sensitive party choose the ignore parameters on their own displayed content.

Open it in incognito, works fine. Let’s keep the thread on Xi Jinping and how he is trying to clean up his image, Taiwan status is better discussed in a Taiwan forum related thread.

Never knew about this…thank you!

Suggest taken, though I’d like to see our pro-unification friend have his own thread and have him flesh out his vision with us throwing monkey wrenches into his utopia.
Now for the Chinese leader distancing himself from Pooh Bear. Look at this face. I always admired Pooh. He’s a simple bear, clumsy but very wise and likable.

The Chinese already have an archetype “大智若愚” (Pleco Chinese Dictionary 2021).
If I did not know who the leader of China was and just saw that face and the comparison, I’d like that guy.

The problem with that system is is create an echo chamber. But Taiwan logic I don’t understand.

Unless you are one of them i dont think you are allowed to say that. Its safer to go with Xigga.

All tolled, the world was totally cool with Mao Zedong…which begs the question: What makes you guys think they arent fine with a Xigga running the planet?

That just sounds normal though…

There’s been a bit of clean up in this thread, in case anyone is wondering why a post was removed it was probably related to the clean up.

A post was split to a new topic: From Xi

At the very least China could refund other countries for the cost of vaccines. A bit like paying the medical bills of someone you injure. That would be a bare minimum act of good faith.

Of course they won’t even do that. I can’t see how they can ever be lovable. They might as well stick with being feared and loathed.

Looking at supply chains it did appear last year that companies were moving production to South East Asia and the Sub-Continant.

The problems in India seem to have slowed that movement.

Best we can do is start supporting companies who do not manufacture in China.

I’m sure it’s just a passing fad and they’ll stick with what works.

It’s really quite bizarre how other countries aren’t lining up to say “me next! me next!”. The world is locked into China. But we don’t have to be. The current scenario is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the world’s laggards to get themselves tied into the global ecosystem and make something of themselves. Should they want to.

The politics of victimhood.

That worked well in the past, when prodded they rattle the saber, this time they might be noticing there is not so much fear and a lot more being loathed. Especially as it is coming from everybody collectively.

Power in numbers. This is why i find it annoying when people think they, the customer, has no voice. The client/consumer/customer is the ONLY voice that matters in buisness.

Collective cooperation is the strongest vaccine against tyranny. Its also the strongest virus can eradicate a species. Doing nothing isnt a good answer to any issue.

TBH, its up to the non-laggards to come up with a more competitive option, Africa is ready to listen to alternatives to the Belt and Road, but the Non-China world needs to get its shit together and offer one.

True enough. Nobody really making any helpful overtures.

the Africa world needs to get its shit together and show it can break out of its tin-pot politics, pirate states, revolutions, tribal genocide and so on… then it might be considered worthy of sane investment
