XMAS / New Year 2006/7: Where will you be?

I just thought I’d ask you all.

Are you spending Xmas here in Taiwan, or are you going somewhere? Back ‘home’? Or maybe on some exotic island with a bit of summer weather?

Some of us are lucky enough to have leave over that period while others, like me, have to work. :s

Am I the only one that’ll be in the office on December 25th? :frowning:

Where are the New Year celebrations? Should be a good one with the 31st falling on a Sunday and the Monday being a public holiday.

Haven’t decided yet. Might take myself to a beach. Pooket? can’t be arsed going anywhere complicated.

May just stay home and sulk which I assume I did last year, though. Can’t even remember it, although there must have been parties.

I’ll be working Xmas…

Last years NYE was a let down. I remember going out with Roach to some party where “we could see the 101 fireworks” unfortunately we were on the wrong side of 101 and just saw loads of smoke… This year whatever happens can only be better

I was on my balcony. Great view! forumosans all round mine on new years eve!

I’ll be in Taidong.

I understand Christmas is not a holiday this year. Claim this as a holiday, folks! Let your employers know that foreigners don’t work on Christmas Day. Stand firm. They’ll relent, after all, it’s Christmas.

I will be at the office, don’t care too much for it anyhow.

I’ll be taking it as a holiday, and 26th too if I can. There’s nothing more depressing than having to work in an office at Christmas. OK, well, losing a limb or something would be worse, but you know what I mean.

My wife and I were very clear with the parents of our students that Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were holidays, and would always be holidays at our school. I imagine I’ll be spending Christmas with my wife and whatever the stork brings us in the next couple of weeks.

I hate New Year’s Eve - I’ve had maybe half a dozen great New Year’s Eve parties in my life. The rest were just anti-climactic, and more aggravation than fun. V and I wouldn’t be going out even if we weren’t encumbered.

I did my first tandem paraglide on Sunday in Puli. So awesome that I will go to Puli on Christmas and New Year’s again. We will go camping on the mountain top and have a bbq. Breathtaking views from the mountain and it’s nice to be so close to nature. Step out in Taiwan also have a backpacker’s lodge if you don’t want to go camping. Email flyyuri@yahoo.com.

Bali
Sun, sand, sea, shop and some diving! Woo hoo!!
