Anyone know where I can find yellow curry paste? I have a recipe I really want to try that calls for it but I can’t find it anywhere. I can find red and green curry paste but not yellow. Anyone know where I can find some? Thanks in advance if you do.
Interlocutor,
I could have sworn that I saw some yellow curry paste at Breeze center. I know that they have green and red curry paste.
Are you looking for a massaman curry paste?
If Breeze doesn’t have, perhaps try Jason’s or City Super (the usual suspects). RT Mart had a “Thai Festival” promotion a few weeks ago. They had all sorts of Thai goods available, including some curry pastes. I picked up some excellent sweet chilli sauce that goes great with grilled chicken.
Alternately, I would recommened that you fly to Thailand and pick up some yellow curry paste there. Could be a good excuse, er, I mean reason, to spend a weekend in Thailand, right?
Thanks fee, I tried Breeze yesterday and started getting depressed because it was my last try. The RT Marts I have been to don’t have it. I am not exactly sure about Jason’s but I don’t think so. Where is City Super? If you see it anywhere else please let me know. Btw, that
sounds good, what’s the name?

Sounds great! Actually this is for a Thai recipe from a day I spent in a cooking school in Thailand so maybe that’s the reason I am having trouble finding yellow curry paste. If I decide to follow your advice I’ll pick up some for you too ![]()
Hey, Interlocutor. Sorry to hear that Breeze didn’t have the yellow curry paste.
City Super is in the basement of the Far Eastern building on Tunhua and Heping (or thereabouts). You can also reach it via Anhe. However, to be honest, I don’t know how large their Thai food section is, so I don’t want to get your hopes up. Actually, I thought Breeze would be the best bet–but they didn’t have it.
The sweet chilli sauce I bought was part of the Thai promotion at RT Mart. It is the sauce that is served with the “ping gai” – the grilled chicken that is so good in Thailand and Laos. It is the sauce that comes with the “chicken rice” set meals.
This isn’t the name brand that I bought, but it gives you an idea.
I just checked in my freezer, but I am sorry to say that I don’t have any yellow curry paste myself–otherwise it would be yours. I only have some “Khao Soi” mix left (the curry for noodles served up in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai and the northern Shan areas of Thailand).
Where did you do your cooking course? I did mine in Chiang Mai. Had a great time. Only did the one-day course, but picked up some good ideas and info.
Hope you find some yellow curry paste somewhere, somehow. Red and green curry pastes seem to be most commonly found here in Taipei.
Keep us posted.
Thanks again fee, I have never been to City Super, it is worth the trip? I searched all over Breeze but didn
Hi…
I’ve seen and bought sour yellow curry paste in the Thai food section in the Wellcome on Anhe Road several times (about 50m off the intersection with Leli Road). They don’t always have it though, but I see it most times I go there. You could combine your visit with the supermarket in the Far East building, since both are within walking distance from each other.
Hope this helps…
Try Burmese Alley in Nanshijiao.
Yes, Burmese Alley (Hua Xin Street) in Nanshijiao definitely has Yellow Curry. I saw it in two grocery stores there.

Thanks fee, that’s exactly where I looked for it the day I was there but at that time there was no yellow curry paste. I know that brand of the picture you posted and always pick up several when I am in Thailand (for a third of the price here I think.) I am out of here for the summer soon but will try them again the next time.
Agreed, they are the best and the first established in Chiang Mai. Still want to try another one next time just for variety.
Thanks, I’ve never gone there as they are a bit out of my neck of the woods but sounds like it’s worth a trip.

They have it again now at Breeze. I was there yesterday and it was there with the green, red, massaman, panang and other curry packets. Same brand - Lobo.
RT mart is doing the Thai festival thing again, from May 17-30th, and they have various curry pastes advertised, including yellow.
Loved all the talk about yellow curry. Makes me want to cook some up. However, I like to make Indian curry. Any market/shop in Taipei that sells Indian food/supplies and curry?? Thank you.
There’s an Indian grocery on the north side of Zhongxiao E. Rd., across from the City Hall MRT station entrance. It’s on the second floor of one of the buildings. Don’t have the exact address, but it shouldn’t be hard to find.
Cool, thanks for the heads up. We’re learning to cook the foods of each Asian country, and did Indian this week. I’ll check that Indian grocery out soon and add more details here.
Chris-
Thanks for confirming there is a place for Indian food. Don’t care if I have to search all the buildings, I will find it!!
Thank you!!!
There’s the book Thai Food by David Thompson. He’s supposed to be the only Thai Michelin Chef (restaurants in Australia). The recipes in there look great; there’s plenty about how to make pastes.
