Just discovered this site which aims to do a groupon-style thing focused on fun activities. Sounds like a good idea, and it’s just getting going so here is a shameless plug for them.

Great adds that should work in Taiwan where anything can be sold if on discount. Wonder where they stole the concepts, like they stole the Pink song as theme for the first video.

Groupon (which is what yordoo is based on) makes TONS of money here in the states. In fact, Google just offered Groupon ( groupon.com ) 6 Billion, yes I said Billion! dollars to buy them out. Guess what? Groupon turned down the deal! So yes Yordoo since being based on the groupon model can and will most likely work just fine in Taiwan as everyone loves discounts in taiwan.

Groupon is an internet company that is like an intermediary between customers and companies. It allows for big savings if enough people will sign on to purchase something. For example, a restaurant says it will offer 30% discounts onTuesday night if they have a minimum of 20 people. So if twenty people sign on they all get the discount. It’s actually working incredibly well and overall a pretty cool thing for everyone: customers and sellers.
As a side note, it’s employing tons of out-of-work journos and other writers and used as proof that the Interwebby has been a net gain and not loss for writing jobs.

No, it’s just that services that exist only in some far off continent or countries are not of much interest to those who live here. Groupon has been around for just over two years. Now even Sandman knows about it. Really, how is that a problem? Is something is useful we will all eventually learn about it. But given the immense number of flash-in-the-pan web businesses, models and ideas, well, you have to have no life to have the time and desire to keep up with them all.
Are writers really making money at these content mills? I can see where that could be a positive development.
I believe they are employees, not freelancers, so yes, they would be making money. But mind-numbing work writing short ads each day.

No need to apologize. I was just explaining why a lot of people don’t know things that others think are crucial. It’s pretty easy to forget that most people aren’t spending their times keeping up with webby developments.
No doubt for many businesses being social-media savvy is important, but for people, meh.
