My 2 month old was just fussing and crying, so I stopped playing Beethoven piano sonatas and tried something new: Babatunde Olatunji, Circle of Drums (African drum music). I picked him up and started to dance with him, and he immediately stopped crying and went to sleep. The books say infants dislike rhythmic “bassy” music, but he seems to love this.
I plan to expose him to all types of music as often as possible, with the hope of encouraging the wiring of his brain and also instilling a love of music from an early age.
