When I saw the title of this thread, it was this one that popped into my mind immediately.
All great stuff. Missed the guy on the bus though…
Roger Waters’ whole show was like that a few years back.
I’ve never heard this one, cool song (Sultans of Swing is one of my all-time favs)
Not a lot of metal on this list, which in terms of technicality and groove is to me the most rich genre for guitar solos
I tried to pick a Cannibal Corpse ‘favourite’ but was difficult to find good footage so here is one where there is no ‘solo’ but the entire song is basically a grooving solo:
Here’s another one without vocal track (again no ‘solo’), even their bass player can shred. These guys are just incredibly talented:
As for ‘solo’ solos, Pantera’s Walk comes to mind (cue’d at the solo for your convenience):
Poor old Gary Moore never gets a look in.
Parisienne Walkways is a classic.
Solo starts six minutes in.
Solo starts about 6:40 and slowly builds.
Second half of song is pretty much all solo.
I tried to get the right guitar solo thread this time.
Alice in Chains - Again
The solo by Derek Trucks is incredible. It starts a bit after the 5-minute mark but you kind of have to feel the mood of the song leading up to it. The song ends on the solo, which I really like. You can tell his wife is really digging the solo.
I suck, mostly just bang out chords
FRANTIC DISEMBOWLMENT

Marc Moreland
cued up
Great photography too
two solos. that last one! KK Downing
Dream Theater’s Count of Tuscany is really good. But I cannot really play guitar solos that well, I make guitars and let musicians play guitar solos.
That and these days while many young musicians can smoke just about anyone, guitars seems to have fallen to the wayside.
For the thrash fans. The first solo at 1:30. Gary Holt is amazing
