A more plausible narrative: this was purely a throw-the-bums-out election. Not a mandate for DPP, merely an angry rebuke of KMT.
If this goes to the English Vegetable’s head, there will be trouble. The only mandate here is a negative one: not to suck up to the bullies in Beijing.
