Misdemeanor Charge Lead to Deportation?

I was arrested for a very minor posession of stolen property charge.

I do visa runs and have a court date in a few weeks.

If I get charged will I be deported or banned from reentry into Taiwan?

There’s supposed to be an organization here that provides free legal services. In English, it’s called the Legal Aid Foundation. There’s a thread on it that’s been updated from time to time. Here’s a link to a post from that thread:

You’re screwed. They’ll probably take you straight to the jail in yilan if you don’t have money for a plane ticket.

Thanks for linking the post. As noted in other posts in that thread, there are also free legal consultations at Taipei City Hall Mon-Fri. You need an appointment if they’re busy. They tend not to speak English.
