The original Texas Ranger Fried Chicken is in Shilin.

I went to the one in Q Square (floor B2) by Taipei Main Station.

The chicken fried steak is served only during lunch and quite reasonably priced at 149 nt, with rice and cream gravy, but was sold out when I went. So I settled for the chicken tender with rice and gravy, which was ok. The rice was a little more sticky than I like. The mashed potato and cream gravy was pretty good. Considering this is Taiwan, it is about as close to Southern comfort food as can be found here.

I’ll return to check out the other items on the menu.

They used to have a location in the Shida area, basically right on campus. It closed sometime in 2013 though. Good to hear they have another location now.

Yeah the one in Shilin is in Tienmu, right where the old Mary’s Hamburgers was.
