What's going on in Taipei for CNY?

I just recently moved to Taipei and was wondering what are people’s recommendations for fun public events for CNY? Is there much going on or is it mostly a family affair?

Very good question. I got visitors from abroad and I would really like them to see some lion dance or gods’ parade for New Year. Is there any website for that? I mean, yes, the Lantern Festival is really cool, but it will be after New Year.

Suggestions?

If you guys are into tennis, there’s the women’s Taiwan Open tournament going on in the Taipei Arena

Unfortunately I’m allergic to sport! :stuck_out_tongue:

Eating stinky tofu in Shenkeng (Not really that) Old Street…that’s where its at.

Seriously guys. Visitors leave on the 10th. We can’t leave them with a bad impression! Help!

This is on schedule BTW:

There will be a pretty nice station for it next to Taipei Main station exit facing Q Square.

林口竹林山觀音寺
Linkou Zhulinshan Temple

Plenty of activities (not the international kind) more like the local kind.
Take 936 bus from Yuanshan MRT and ask for 林口竹林山觀音寺.
The kind bus driver will let you know when to get off the bus.

OTW there, also
Linkou Mitsui Outlet Park

Much more “international” scene during CNY.

Any fireworks displays today? Been scouring online but can’t find anything.

Any other thing to go see? We have family visiting as well. Thanks for your help!

Fireworks occured randomly in countryside. Practically any district in New Taipei City have fireworks either yesterday, today or tomorrow.
