2020 USA Presidential Elections Latest

You really think that education quality is directly related to spending? lol… The U.S. spends WAY more per student than S. Korea and Japan.

He’s got a point:

It seems hypocritical that people living in Taiwan demonstrably benefitting from a National Insurance policy that’s cheap and effective wouldn’t want the same thing for people living in the U.S.

I think we’ve been over this.

Do you see any problems with the metric you are using that are specific to the US and how schools are funded there?

Perhaps as important is the question, who has the strongest down-ballot coattails?

Kavanaugh, Mueller, impeachment, and now Iowa have put Democrats in a deep election hole. I don’t think they realize just how bad it is for them. As things stand they risk losing the WH, their House majority, and - crucially - the down-ballot elections that will decide the nature of Congressional redistricting in 2021 (based on the demographic results of this year’s census).

In 2016 Trump turned out middle-aged voters who’d never voted before in their lives. First time, older voters. Look at his campaign events: he’ll do it again this November, plus some. He may even win the popular vote this time.

That said, I can see Democrats blaming the GOP - instead of the choices they made in 2020 - for locking in GOP House majorities and putting into office record numbers of Trump-appointed Federal judges in 2021 and beyond.

Walk the walk, Dems. For once.

Right. We’ve been over this a hundred times… It’s an absolutely stupid argument. It’s equivalent to me saying that it’s hypocritical for you, enjoying the protection of the US military fighting wars abroad, enjoying the safety that provides you at home in the US, to oppose the US warfare state. It’s an absurd line of argument.

Huh? I’m not the one drawing any conclusions from the relationship between budget and education. I’m only providing an argument that more budget is not equivalent to better education and less budget is not equivalent to worse education. You are claiming that our education quality will get worse as the budget is cut. I am saying that there is no evidence to support that.

When have I ever said anything about opposing a ‘warfare state’? You are making things up and talking to yourself again, this time about random topics. I know better than to reply to you. Back to mute.

still learning the ropes here at forumosa…

i went back one day and am guessing there is nothing about the recent talk of Katy Purry running and the british-asia trust ambassador thing…these are things at least loosely related to “Taiwan Thunderstrike” and why i am here.

i am wondering if i did a reddit post about katy perry 2020 as 3plan3t havent been there awhile

gotta go…ha ha

Your logic skills are so lacking…

It was a hypothetical. I was demonstrating a flaw in logic.

hi. i just wanted to say hi to someone who is online the same time and same thread.

@anon96115109 dont mute me. im not his friend or anything. just hi. hi to you 2

edit
it was supposed to be a reply to @Taiwanguy

How about this then…

It’s equivalent to me saying that it’s hypocritical for you to complain about Trump’s trade policy while enjoying the high standard of living in the US.

NOTE: I DO NOT ACTUALLY BELIEVE THAT TRUMP’S DUMBASS TRADE POLICY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE HIGH STANDARD OF LIVING IN THE US. In fact, I strongly believe that the US standard of living would be higher without his stupid trade policies. Likewise, I think that Taiwan would enjoy higher standards of living and better healthcare if it was not utilizing a single-payer scheme.

It’s not hypocritical for me to live in a country with single-payer even though I disagree with it just like it’s not hypocritical for you to live in a country enacting Trump’s trade policies even though you disagree with them (I presume you disagree with them… I’m actually surprised that you just said that you don’t oppose the US warfare state…).

Being muted by homer is a blessing. You should embrace it.

Just curious why you disagree with it. Do you think it should be abolished in Taiwan and that people will be better off? Or do you think it just cannot work in the US?

Yes, I think it should be done away with in Taiwan, but you are talking to someone who believes all government should be done away with. And no, I do not think it would work well in the US.

Okay, good to know.
