2024: Taiwan stock market (has largest single-day drop in history 19-april)

So will 2024 be good or bear year for Taiwan stocks? Thinking buying China Air (TW2610). My Japan stock is much higher this year, wonder about rest of the year or did it climax for the year.

What are you positions?

Why China Air when Starlux spreading its wings?
What is your investment strategy?

Who has a crystal ball?

Still up >8% for 2024 so far. :man_shrugging:

Position, like where I invest.

I think China Air will be the winner between the two.

Strategy, look for under valued companies. China Air at 19.5 looks like that to me. Also invest in home building materials/machines with all new buildings going up, something need go in them.

What is China Air’s PER?
Does it pay a cash dividend?

Data here:
https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/2610.TW

Cash dividend yield is 3.4%.
Can get 5% for cash doing nothing in Fidelity or Interactive Brokers.
Also lost money in 4Q23.

Nice date. I did not care about that, just want make cash from rise of the stock price. And I expect Airlines lose money in winter time as Aeroplanes have less people. My Alasksan Air stock I got a 35US$ and now 30% higher so hope China Air can do the same.

yeah, which stocks or bonds or commodities, etc. are you investing in?

yeah, but always remember higher returns = higher risk.

Not in hindsight.

I have no arguments against this statement.

Massive stock drop today, hope it’s one day and not a trend

I think 3.4% drop, Korea is over 8%, I think Taiwan stocks will recover just fine.

Of course it matters which stocks you bought , many dropped way more, but I’m hopeful for a strong recovery. My portfolio took a big hit Friday e.g ASE, TSMC.
