Oh, not only Taipei apparently:

Air raid sirens signaling the start of the 30-minute drills will sound at 1:30 p.m. on July 22 in central Taiwan, July 23 in northern Taiwan, July 24 in eastern Taiwan and outlying counties, and July 25 in southern Taiwan, said Chu Sen-tsuen (朱森村) of the MND’s All-out Defense Mobilization Office.

The Ministry of National Defense (MND) in Taiwan has announced that its regular annual air defense exercise, Wan An No. 47, will be conducted on July 22 -July 25, 2024, from 1:30-2:00 p.m.

The exercise is divided into the following four regions:

July 22 - Central Taiwan: Miaoli County, Taichung City, Changhua County, Nantou County, Yunlin County, Chiayi County and Chiayi City.

July 23 – Northern Taiwan: Taipei City, New Taipei City, Yilan County, Keelung City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu City, and Hsinchu County.

July 24 – Eastern Taiwan and outlying islands: Hualien County, Taitung County, Penghu County, Kinmen County and Lienchiang County.

July 25 – Southern Taiwan: Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, and Pingtung County.

During the 30-minute exercise, trains will operate as usual. However, passengers will not be able to exit the MRT station after they arrive on the train. Please also note that vehicular movement on the streets will cease during the exercise. Movement on highways will be permitted. If you are outdoors when the alarm sounds, you will be required to take cover nearby or to pull your vehicle to the side of the road until the drill concludes. Failure to follow the instructions or directions of military or law enforcement personnel during the exercise will result in fines under Taiwan’s Civil Defense Law.

During the 30-minute exercise, the emergency notification system will be tested as well, signaling the start and end of the event.

Please plan your schedule accordingly.

Also please find a valid candidate for the presidency. Someone not too old and not too crazy.

Can you go anywhere to watch some action? Like the airport?

I don’t understand why the message is for US citizens specifically

Thanks for the heads up. My flight leaves on the 23rd; I better plan the taxi ride to the airport accordingly.

Bumping this up as it begins today. Just a reminder.

Do MRT trains stop during drill?

Or they just stop people from exiting stations?

This its my understand

got the alert 5 min ago

The trains in transit continue to their next station and stop. People are allowed onto stations but not out during the drill.

Taipei road livecam.

Saw some cars and scooters still driving shortly after the drill started. Also seen a few cyclists riding through the park.

Do people actually get prosecuted for non-compliance?

Police were just shouting at people I got stuck in it
