2025 Homemade Thanksgiving Meals

We had our Thanksgiving meal this past Sunday November 30th. No point in trying to have it on the actual Thanksgiving Day because nobody in Taiwan gets the day off.

I hope everyone who celebrated had a good one.

Here is our meal.

Yum. Spring chicken?

Was too lazy to cook a bird and partner is a vegetarian so had garlic mashed potatoes, roasted veggies coated in a light masala, roselle sauce (aka florida cranberry), and a slaw style salad.

Spring chicken or not? Don’t know. Wife handled it. Just enough for three and one leftover meal tonight.

You got any pictures to share?

I did document some of it, but nah not really good. words are better this time.

Where did you get cranberry sauce? Can’t find it here.

We substituted with cherry jam from that fancy French jam line you can find in Carrefour’s. It worked well enough.

The wife makes it from frozen cranberries.

She got them at Carrefour this year, but they can be found at 全聯 and also at Costco.

She usually gets them at Costco, but since they decided to do “Black Friday” for an entire week, she wanted to avoid the zoo.

It’s not the best substitute, especially for texture. But for flavor, roselle varieties work quite well and are common in taiwan (end of the season currently). Easy to find and have a very similar flavor profile, albiet slightly more sour. But cranberry sauce is pumped full of sugar anyway, so it works in a pinch
