711 need not open 24 hours at all locations
Maybe will go to being open 7 am to 11pm as it was when it started and the name came from

Doubt it. The drunk club and pub crowd brings in too much money.
Fair, but I still need a few that stay open 24 hours so I can loiter there eating snacks while I’m bored and jet lagged.
I hope the ones that are over one kilometer from any another 7-eleven don’t do it.
It’s subject to individual franchise owners
At least they have a choice now
It’s a good move
711? Closed? For real?
Hold on, I’m checking the sky to see if I can find any flying pigs.
Better look out if you are near any of the 400 which have already stopped operating 24hrs!
Are they giving any more specifics? Will they revert to their namesake of 7am to 11pm, or is it more like they’ll be closed from 2am to 6am kinda deal?
Apparently there are over 5,000 7-11 stores in Taiwan, so probably not.
Probably not what?
7-11s inside train stations are not open 24 hours (we have one in Taoyuan), and I’ve encountered a few others in Taiwan over the years, including this one in Neiwan and some in Matsu and Jinmen.
So, 7% of all 7-11 are closed at night, of the total of convenience stores in Taiwan it’s more like 2-3%. Big deal!
They’ll probably only close the ones that are within visual distance of another one.
There are places in Taiwan where you can see three 7-Elevens from one spot.
FIFY
Now those are the REAL tourist gems.
You know what’s a real rare pepe? A Family Mart that’s closed on Sundays. There’s one near Linsen across from the big Citibank building that’s closed on Sundays and after hours during the week.
True. At most bars/clubs in Taipei drinks are absurdly overpriced… often sometimes more than major cities in the West. A good old fashion pre-game at a 711 or FamilyMart is mandatory.
Or sometimes, a 711/Family with a good patio is a better place to go for a quiet drink with a friend instead of a stupid craft beer bar. Why pay 250NT for a beer when you can pay 45
It’s probably something entirely different quality wise. I you just go for alcohol any cheap brew is good. And if you don’t mind salt in your drink you can get rice wine for cooking, cheap.
Actually even better is one of those mini Jim Beams + tea + lemon juice + soda water. You can mix all of that together and have a cocktail-to-go.
Looks like no more McAdams–end of an era
