4 months Military service urgent questions

So I researched all over the internet for the 4 months service I’ll be entering to and it said it was 1 month basic training, but after entering the service I find that it is now 2 months basic training and 2 months service in the unit camp. So I have need more up to date answers. Thank you. P.S : I’m a mixed Taiwanese that can only speak and understand not even the most basic Chinese words

  1. They say that the exams which are : 3km run, 2 minute push ups (27), shooting, grenade throwing, and 50 second plank, that we will do at the end of the 8 week training, have to be passed or we will have to stay in the camp for another weak alone to re train and do the exam again until we pass? Is this true? Are they that serious in the military service now?

  2. Does anyone know what they will do in the 4th week and onwards? I just finished my 3rd week here. I have friends who help me a lot with translation but I still like to know about the future.

  3. What comment would you give about me not knowing Chinese and will they pass me? So far they go easy on me and know I don’t know Chinese, will they let me pass this 2 month basic training? I’m generally weak and will be unable to complete the 3 km run and 27 push ups. Thank you for your time.

My son did his last year. He said it’s now 2 months.
Don’t worry about language…plenty of others like you. They are used to dealing with it.
My son’s platoon had a guy who couldn’t speak Mandarin, Taiwanese or English. Somehow they dealt with it.

Did he pass their physical exams at the final week?

My son passed it. Several days long but most of the guys dropped out at some point. I recall him telling me at the time half " had the flu" and sat out the hard physical tests. He said maybe they had to lose a day off and attempt some repeats but after all…everyone just moved on from bootcamp to their next duty stations.

I did gas yesterday. So maybe if I fail all physical tests and everything else will they still let me out after 2 months( 8th week)?

I did a year and a half.

When I did it it was only 5 weeks.

Everyone graduated, nobody got recycled, I doubt the Taiwan military has the resource to do so. When I did it, it was 3 km run, push ups, pull ups (you only needed to do one, and from what I heard they pushed you up if you couldn’t do it).

I did gas chamber but not at basic. Our mask works, because part of it is that you must remove it while the CS gas is going. You’ll know instantly your mask works.

Do not use the sink by the exit. Your suffering will be prolonged if you do.

The simple answerbis you better toughen the fuck up.

You’re weak? Do more PT and grow some muscle. You only PT once a day? Great, make time to do it twice a day and exercise different parts of the body. Ask an instructor to help guide you - they’ll make sure you do it right and don’t hurt yourself while doing it.

The military is serious business and take opportunity to learn whatever you can from it because those skills may end up saving your ass or someone else’s ass someday. Half-hearted commitment gets people killed - including yourself.

As far as recycle is concerned worry about shit that actually happened and stop fantasizing the worst possibility that hasn’t happened.

I don’t meant to complain or be anxious, but I’m have the worst fitness, also I’m vegetarian and I eat only a little food that they provide to me everyday so there’s no chance of me ever getting any fitness. Also, I have been struggling with depression since last year, so I really need these 2 months to go smoothly and get to the 2nd part of the service without delays. I’m have friends and everyone is kind to me, and the days go by fast, but I really can’t do any week or day more in the basic training camp and want to go to the second part without delay

I mean not everyone can do the military life and some of us are not born normal. Also, aside from the part that everyone says this service is useless and trying to avoid it as best as possible, there is no point for me to save anything if I unalive myself first

Listen. Just listen and take a breath.

Try not to allow your anxiety to get you all upset.

  1. Eat more. Being a vegetarian doesn’t equal not eating much. If you are already exercising more, you need to eat more.

That might explain why you’re dizzy.

  1. Drink a LOT of water and Supau or something. Eat fruit.

  2. Focus on what you have accomplished each day. Keep a journal. A bad day is just a bad day. No big deal. Let it go. Have a better day tomorrow.

  3. Keep track of your physical fitness progress.

It’ll all be over before you know it!

I would stop listening to the people who told you what you are doing is pointless. It’s not. You’re doing it, so that makes it important.

Keep breathing. Get a good nights sleep and be ready to go in the morning.

Sounds like he’s the guy to hang out with and ask for help. He may know more about getting a skinny guy like you into fighting shape!

as long as you actually show willing and not looking for shortcuts

They 15 minute break which is actually 12 is not enough to do both toilet or fill water at the same time as they are far away from each other. Forgot about snacks. I’m really worried if I fail the exam and need to stay 1 week alone there and re do it alone instead of moving to do smoother 2nd part. I mentioned I didn’t know it was 8 weeks instead of 5. So I’m mentally unprepared

Here’s some exercises you can do. Different parts of the body and differing ranges of intensity/difficulty. No equipment required. Find a friend, make a friend, ask an instructor to be your workout partner and get to it.

Other advice regarding vegetarian diet and mental acuity is on point. But get it into your head that weakness is not a virtue. If you have no desire to fight and would prefer to suck-start your rifle rather than fight that’s your business, not mine.

Please here in the legal forum keep strictly on topic and helpful. Thank you everyone.

This topic is not strictly about “legal”, but not sure if there’s a better sub forum here…

Lol @ many things said in thread.

You’re legally required to do this. It won’t change, and if you dwell on it you’re just going to make yourself suffer.

I understand you may be overwhelmed and stressed but that is literally the easiest physical I have ever heard of, nevermind for military application. You could not imagine what some units have to face. You best pray you never face a war then my friend! Given the geopolitics right now, well…

Anyways, recommendations, as Churchill said, if you’re going through hell, keep going. “Tough” things will only make you tougher. It’s pretty short time and later you will have some cool stories.

Since pushups seem your biggest issue, try to do as many pushups as you can each day a couple tries, it will get you to 30 in less than 2 minutes pretty fast. Maybe first when you wake up. If you get stressed or upset, that is a great time to try some, it will help both angles. Listen to music that motivates you if possible. Trust me. Don’t dip too far down if you are bad when the time comes for test and find out how spread out yours arms is best for you makes it easier. Same deal with pullups (you only have to do ONE?! :joy:), and going faster is usually easier if your strength is low as slow just pushes the muscles harder. 3km is nothing, just jog, keep hands up above elbows and like loose fist and try breathe more through your nose, don’t overdrink water and think positive. Keep your head up.

Take some multi-vitamins if you are vegetarian, your diet might be letting you down more. This will help lots if possible.

More advanced, for guns just remember a couple solid rules… Always imagine every gun is loaded, even if you think or know they’re not, like point downward as much as you can and never toward anybody or anything. Keep your finger off the trigger until actually time to shoot and when you lift gun always keep pointed toward where it’s safe to shoot, don’t turn around toward anywhere unsafe when up like a person. Always clear the weapon before and after, even if someone tells you it’s clear or you even watched them clear it, if you handle the gun make sure you remove the magazine and clear/check chamber more than once. Not sure which gun ROC uses to train but Google is your friend since you clearly have internet access. Good aim is usually not a requirement lol Grenades won’t magically explode so don’t be afraid, just follow directions, and throw confidently outward and up and then get down. Again, ask people then Google specific type and learn how the pin/lever mechanism works in advance if you are nervous. Since it’s training, likely not real so literally not a thing to fear. Practice throwing like it’s baseball because i’ve seen people toss like 7 year old girls before and it’s the embarassment that will hurt more than anything else

Short of it, don’t be a weak sounding coward bro, that’ dumb. Enjoy where you can, learn all you can and make friends. Be glad you are just training and that’s all. Peace be with you.

Feedback from many students I teach strongly suggests that this is no longer the case, assuming it once was.

What’s your height, weight?
What makes you self-admittedly so out of shape?

I’m 1.7m with 49kg weight. Even though I have this weight I’m only bones. And my knee joint has been hurting for 2 weeks now. I know I’m not gaining anything because I eat slowly and there is no slow in the military

Of course I overthink. I’m not normal everyone I go. There is always a handicap. I can do the 50s plank. We need to do the running in 18 minutes and that’s how long it took me to do 1.6km . As for the one I’m worried about is the push up. Because I can only do 2-3 and I tire out. It’s like my triceps feel overstretched.
