40 Minutes, enough time to make connecting flight?

I’m a little worried about the itinerary my travel agent has set for me.
Will I have enough time to make my connecting flight at Taoyuan airport if my flight from Kaohsiung arrives at Taoyuan at 7:20 a.m. and my connecting flight leaves at 8:00 a.m? Both flights are at Terminal 2.
I haven’t left Taiwan in about 8 years and can’t remember much about Taoyuan airport. I’m hoping the departure and arrival areas aren’t too far apart.

thats a REALLY tight squeeze, although not impossible. i’ve done the same kinda thing at HK airport with cathay pacific, 50min transfer. Keep in mind that planes do get delayed, AND flights normally board 30 mins prior to departure, and the gates close 10-15 mins before departure. ultimately, its a risk only you can decide. good luck!

You might make it–but your bag(s) might not!

Guy

Which may or may not work for you. I often had really tight connections in Hong Kong when flying from Vancouver to Kaohsiung. I always made the connection, but my bags never did, which was great because then my giant bags, excessively filled with Vancouver-bought groceries, would be delivered to my apartment and I wouldn’t need to worry about handling them.

I agree the bags might not make it but the passenger probably will. They might even have a sign up to rush you from one place to the other, if they are super organised. It’s happened to me before, but that was with a connecting flight through Honkers.

The only issue with having your stuff home delivered means that they will certainly open your luggage, which is something to consider when you pack.

Totally depends on the airport and quality of the airline. Every flight I’ve had in the last year (international and domestic) where there has been 45min and 1 hour layovers: no problem.

However,if it’s a super large airport like Narita or Heathrow, you may have problems. Taiwan domestic airports? Should be ok.

They’ll probably arrange someone to help you go through immigration faster and if you are not the only passenger to take this connection, they’ll probably wait for you.

Thank you to all that replied. I didn’t have a chance to get back and read your comments, but I did want to let you all know that I made my connecting flights as did all my baggage.
I flew on China Airlines and since all of my connecting flights were on their airlines they had an attendant waiting outside the gate for those of us connecting and escorted us to our next gate despite having made the flight 10 minutes late. When I got to my final destination I was half expecting my baggage to not have made it, but they did.

sit at the front of the plane, carry on all your baggage (cuz it won’t make it) and you should be fine.

a delay at KHH will fuck you though.

Provided that the flight is not delayed (happened to me once to Japan) and provided that the boarding terminal is not on the other side of the country, then you might make it (if you run).
Best not to leave these things to chance.

They did the same thing to us in Hong Kong - fast-tracked a group of passengers who were making a tight transfer. We made the connection but our baggage didn’t. Turned up within 8 hours, though.
