500,000+ new migrant workers?

Some really big news out of the Legislature. KMT/TPP alliance just enacted an amendment to the Employment Service Act that will allow employers to hire a migrant caregiver if the employer is over 80 with no Barthles Index score.

In other words, about 530,000 employers are now eligible to hire migrant caregives for 20k/month and no protections under the Labor Standards Act.

What could go wrong?

Allow employers? Do you mean that any individual over 80 can hire a migrant worker?

Exactly. There will be an orgy of exploitation, diversion into non-caregiving jobs, and massive expansion of the underground undocumented migrant work force. Many other implications too.

I don’t know if foreigners are eligible though. Doubt it. Will have to wait to see the text of the Act as amended.

I wish I had a caregiver to care for me :sob:

My mother in law in 79 in March so that means the following year she could get a care helper. At least they would have a nice place to stay up here and not be overly burdened.

me too.

So u want a flight attendant to wipe your ass or a caregiver?

Even when the above poster spelled it out you still missed it.

Poor dude died a year or so later. Still asking what he asked for was beyond the pale. Hello Kitty, Hello Shitty. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I doubt many people mourned his passing.

You want a flight attendant to wipe your ass like that obese guy on a EVA flight, i get your joke. I just don’t know why you would want this.

they need to provide a open work rights provision for anyone “imported” as a caretaker to lessen the chance of abuse by the employer. I guess 20k ntd is going to be the going rate even if this is below TW minimum wage?

There needs to be provision for a room with certain amenities and hours per day they need to work set up and guaranteed one day off a week, etc.
workers rights need to be upheld or else abuse is going to happen. Its a given.
Any such caretaker should receive open work rights good for a year in case their charge dies or they are not in compliance of the minimum requirements, are being abused and threatened, etc.

I see a LOT of potential abuse here.

Then I think you are not fully understanding the concept of a joke

They should be offered citizenship for their sacrifices.

Employers should be made to contribute to an education fund too.

Boom. Mitigated birthrate issue.

I bet that’s exactly what the CKMT had in mind
