$500 coffee at Family Mart

I think for most people the price of a wine has no real bearing on whether they actually like it or now.

If I paid 500 for a coffee I would at the very least want it in a crockery mug with proper table service. Typically Taiwan cafes that do offer table service have what I would call ā€œreluctant table service.ā€ They dump the entire table’s order on the edge of the table closest to wherever they came from so they can piss off back to their FB as quickly as possible.

Below a certain price it gets pretty bad though. Like below 300 NTD is is usually older and a bit acidic. Probably there’s a couple of rough step changes e.g over 400 NTD, over 1500 NTD

I really enjoyed this local coffee during a recent visit. The cost: NT$130. The beans come from a farm located in the nearby coastal mountain range.

The open air seating at the shop, with clean air, certainly helped to make this cup even more enjoyable. :yum:
