Strange…looking through this newspaper’s frontpage I don’t see the Republicans claiming the Japanese were unbeatable or asking why the Japanese would want to hate us. Oh well…it was a different time.

That pinhead bush evoked a similar comparison in his speech this evening on the Iraq war. Today was the anniversary of Pearl Parbour or something and on Sept 11 America lost more people than at Pearl Harbour and Peal Harbour was attacked by Japan and the World Trade Centre was attacked by Osama Bin Laden and his gang of henchmen who were known to be residing in Afghanistan and hailed as it were from Saudi Arabia but anyway the war with Iraq is still comparable in some way or other hick*

What the heck is that supposed to mean? You posted an article about an attack on the US by foreign military forces at the command of their government. As far as I know, nothing remotely similar has happened in the past 64 years.

:idunno:

You’re right. He continues his efforts to deceive people into believing there is some sort of connection between the 9/11 attacks and the US invasion of Iraq, despite the fact that story has long been discredited. Not only that, but now he’s claiming that virtually any evil act that has ever been committed anywhere on Earth is directly attributable to Saddam’s evil regime in Iraq
or others who share the same ideology, whatever the hell that sly qualification means
.
On September 11, 2001, our nation awoke to another sudden attack. In the space of just 102 minutes, more Americans were killed than we lost at Pearl Harbor.

Like generations before us, we accepted new responsibilities and we confronted new dangers with firm resolve.

Like generations before us, we’re taking the fight to those who attacked us and those who share their murderous vision for future attacks. . .

The terrorists in Iraq share the same ideology as the terrorists who struck the United States on September 11, blew up commuters in London and Madrid [Spain], murdered tourists in Bali, killed workers in Riyadh [Saudi Arabia] and slaughtered guests at a wedding in Amman, Jordan.

This is an enemy without conscience. They cannot be appeased. If we’re not fighting and destroying the enemy in Iraq, they would not be leading the quiet lives of good citizens; they would be plotting and killing our citizens across the world and within our own borders.

By fighting the terrorists in Iraq, we are confronting a direct threat to the American people. And we will accept nothing less than complete victory. . .
The man clearly has no conscience as he continues to spin his web of deceit.

I think a better analogy with George Bush’s Operation Iraqi Freedom than Pearl Harbor would be an event which occurred 66 years ago, Operation Fall Weiss, the invasion of Poland:

"The Gleiwitz incident was a staged attack against the German radio station Sender Gleiwitz in Gliwice on the night of August 31, 1939. There were other staged Polish-German border incidents (such as house torching in the Polish Corridor) and spurious propaganda output. Together the Nazis claimed these 21 incidents, collectively dubbed Operation Himmler, as the pretext for Operation Fall Weiss, the invasion of Poland the following day.

The Gleiwitz incident was organised by Alfred Naujocks under orders from Reinhard Heydrich and accompanied by Heinrich M

Aren’t you guys worried that you will step on your nose?

Another interesting historical parallel between Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Fall Weiss is that both involved a compliant British prime minister who deluded himself into thinking he exercised a moderating effect over Maximum Leader.

It was 64 years ago. Give it a break. I like that picture of Condi Rice you’ve got there TC. It looks like she’s looking over her shoulder and that should surprize no one.

If you haven’t been to Hawaii to see the Arizona Memorial, you might say that. Those innocent poor young soldiers and sailors died horrible deaths, and for that alone, they should be remembered. The fact that it was the beginning of a big broohaha is secondary.

That the broohaha resulted in the greatest advances of human history in the span of 50 years says a lot. It was the beginning of prime time life for sure.

I’m sure there are many men and women who died horrible deaths in history, but for me at least this day is for them.
