7-11 "hot pot" tofu, fish balls et al

:open_mouth:

MacDonalds to be fair has decent hygiene and they are way more open about what goes in their food than a decade ago. Plus I sweat a lot in Taiwan so probably need 3 or 4 times the salt intake that I need back home.

I have to say Iā€™ve not once been tempted to eat those braised foods at 7/11. They looks absolutely unappealing.

No MSG no good

You mean the salmonella or E. coli risk?
I went through a phase where I would buy their salad every time I saw one.
It was right after moving to Taiwan and I was craving fresh vegetables.

Good breakfast besides the ubiquitous sandwiches. Only fruit is what I have after my gig

Ya thats my ppint. They are inspected and kept on the radar so one small mistake and its big news. Them 711 and other huge companies are good in that sense. But mcdonalds is relatively crappy nutritionallyā€¦better than a bowl of noodles with msg and pig fat scraps though.

Yeah we agree on the hygiene point but a bacon burger with cheese, salad and corn soup ainā€™t bad! And their breakfast is full of eggs !

I think they should give me a job in advertising lol

I do however live above a McDonalds so it is kind of too convenient for me, just luvin it!

Not really a big issue in Taiwan, but the degree of freshness is variable and potential for yuckiness is high.

are you talking about 7-Eleven oden (soggy sticks)?

get the street vendor version.

7 does have the pork cutlet sandwich again (yes!), now if they could only get the packaged chicken breast like they have in Japan and a few more cheese life would be sweeter.

And smell even worse. High school gym flashbacks.

In the end its what we are used to i guess. Then time. If we work an 18 shift in the heat, 7 seems slightly better than heaven. If we have a notmal day in AC in a life with refrigeratex availability and access to lota of good fresh ingredients the 7, or mcdonalds, ia horrible.

I dont often have time to cook as a good meal with fresh ingredients takes a couple hours to makeā€¦so im a guilty co sumer of 711, also cause there are no options here after 8pm. No family mart, mcdonalds etc. If i lived in taipei and still ate at 7 11 though i would hope a friend would step in and have an intervention. Most cities here have so much better 24 hours. Though almost never cleaner i will grant them that

Thinking about it now, in my 11 years in Taiwan, although I probably get something from 7-11 nearly every day, I have never once eaten that stuff soaking in hot water.

Some Youtubers have done thatā€¦
All of them still alive.
