We’re moving back to Taiwan with four kids and will need to get a new 7+seater SUV or van. This is our second time around doing this, and we didn’t really like the Mazda CX-9 we had last time in Taiwan…too tight to comfortably fit a big family. Dad is TALL so he needs a lot of legroom in the driver’s seat. We are in the US now, and have driven at various times a Chevy Tahoe, a Ford Expedition, a Toyota Sequoia, a Renault Trafic and Mercedes Viano - all either rented or owned by friends and family. I have personally seen the Toyota Sequoia in Taiwan, back in 2010 although when I went to a dealer they said it must be a parallel import because they didn’t stock them. American and European brands are preferred over Japanese because they tend to have more legroom.
I realise that sadly these large cars easily go for double what they cost in the US, but no way around it. Can’t fit four kids and the wife on a motorbike. We ended up selling our last Mazda for a bit more than 60% what we paid for it when we left several years ago, so for a four year old car, it could have been worse.
Can anyone help me list out what options they know might be available? And is is possible to have something like a Tahoe or Sequoia ordered through a dealer? I know these are all big cars for Taiwan’s tiny parking spaces, but no other choice.
