A cheap hotel in Taipei

Hey everyone,

I tried the search function, but couldn’t find anything. I’m looking for a cheap hotel in Taipei. There used to be a hotel in Ximen that cost $500NT per night. It was more or less a dive, but the sheets were clean, it had it’s own bathroom, and it was relatively quiet. Unfortunately that placed closed a few years ago.

Does anyone know of a super cheap hotel like that in Taipei City. I figure if there’s one $500NT a night hotel in Taipei, there must be more somewhere or other.

Anyone know of one?

There are some hostels that are pretty cheap for Taipei standards ( < NT$500/night, IIRC). Or are you looking for an actual hotel?

Hi Chris, thanks for your response.

I’m only looking for a hotel. Like I said, there was a shabby one in Ximen a few years back for $500 per night. It was more or less just a love hotel, but it was good enough for me. I’m sure there are many hole in the wall love hotels like that one in Taipei. I just don’t happen to know where they are.

Any clues?

There are still a lot of cheap hotels in Taipei and yes, many can be found around Xi men. But figure 700-800 Nt and up. Are you flying from out of town? How many nights are you looking at? Exactly what area do you want?

Within 4 or 5 blocks of the Xi men metro station are several cheapo hotels for under 1000 NT a night. Prices for short time or overnight stays are posted on street level signs.

You can also find cheapo hotels just north of main Taipei train station. From Taipei main station, go north across Civic Boulevard and west to Tai Yuan Road. There are several old, small, cheap hotels just off Tai Yuan Road just north of Civic Boulevard. If you can read Chinese, they are very easy to find. If not, it’s a bit harder.

Thanks neesh,

Yeah, I figure I’ll just walk around Ximen and see what I can find. Thanks for the Tai Yuan Road tip, too. If I can’t find anything in Ximen, I’ll look there.

hi…do you guys have any recommendations on ximen hotels? I’ve also found a website http://ximendinghotel.com/ which looks good. will be there in 1 month time

Hello Kathy Yuen,

I cannot really describe this place as “cheap,” but my friends who have stayed at Amba Ximending have been very happy.

I hope you enjoy your time in Taipei.

If you’re a dude, you can try the 24 saunas. I think it’s like $350 for a bath and you can sleep while watching porn on a big screen. Happy endings are also available.

I wanted to mention the Guoguang, or “Good Ground” Hotel but it seems it’s closed since and now there’s another hotel at this address: Hotel Puri. It can’t really be described as cheap though, and for these prices there should be more choice. If you can read Chinese maybe try looking at Ctrip?

Ctrip also has english version now.

Hi. thanks a lot… will consider it…seems choices in Ximending are not as budget friendly. On other hand… anyone heard of Diary of ximen ? http://diaryofximenhotel.com/ the price looks good
