It’s interesting seeing Iraq through your eyes, TC. No wonder you’re frustrated with the America-hating propaganda of the news media which portray Iraq as a charnel house of mass murder, relentless American casualties, blood in the streets, kidnappings and torture with a pervasive climate of fear and despair over all the land.
Instead, the truth – as you clearly show – is that Iraq is a happy, largely peaceful place where the locals and their smiling children are happy to pose with their American benefactors who spend most of their day by the pool, enjoying concerts, sightseeing and largely just keeping an eye on things until the last finishing touches are put in place.
Any day now they’re going to be able to declare Iraq ‘open for business’ so that average Americans can go there on educational tours to see exactly what their hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars have bought them and the world in the way of lasting world peace.
Of course, there are undeniably a few potholes in the road on the way, signified by the pictures of bomb craters with smiling soldiers posing next to them. Nothing that can’t be dealt with though. Just a few deadenders unhappy with the way Iraq has been turned from a grisly hell on earth with them presiding over it into an oasis of peace and democracy in the wilderness of Middle Eastern Islamofascism.
I liked the pictures. I’m sure there are many other sites to show human suffering, carnage and death and destruction. All that site showed was another facet to the situation of troops being over there, doing what is requested of them.
I hope they can keep those smiles on their faces until they can get out safely. I don’t support this war or the way it has been handled from the start, but might as well support the troops that are there.
The one I liked the best is the one where they’re posing in front of their Saracen, or whatever that US equivalent is. All happy and posing for the camera. It’s like they’re not even aware of what’s going on in the background behind them. You know, the OTHER group of soldiers standing around a civilan sitting cross-legged in the dirt.

Thank you for opening my eyes to the truth.[/quote]spook - Maybe, just maybe you and I have walked a few of the same paths years ago. I’ll give you that and cut you about .0001 worth of slack. Yeah, its the internet, I know.
But I resent your making assumptions about my views with your whiny a** posts.
This is not “seeing Iraq through your eyes, TC.” I made it quite clear who & what these pics are all about. Why do you post mis-information like you do? What do you gain from it?
Why post lies about what you think is “your frustration”? Why spook?
I’m not “showing you” anything about Iraq. These are pictures from a US Soldiwer who was & is on site and living it. Are you calling her a liar?
I really don’t give a darn about “opening my eyes” spook.
You put your blinders on a long time ago. Thats why you stumble in your own self-imposed darkness.
One question, though. Are the troops allowed to have digital camera on them while deployed?
I find it strange.
I find troops having access to the internet even stranger. You know, like “Hello folks! Man we’re having this city op tonight, gonna clear some houses, looking for so and so, blah, blah, blah…”
Or maybe it just me being over-cautious? Security and so on…

The military just closed down many of the warblogs in Iraq. Now, they need to go through channels, ie up the chain of command. But having digital cameras? That kind of stuff is so small these days and very easy to hide.
Hell I used to rip novels in half and tuck them into my boots when I was doing a night shift at a desk inside a command cave in japan…yawn…11pm -7am zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I stand by my assertion that this soldier’s photo diary shows the truth about the situation in Iraq and the MSM has been shamelessly painting a dire, diametrically opposed picture for political purposes. If that’s ‘putting on blinders’ and “self-imposed darkness” then I shall wear those accusations like a badge of honor.
There are many different experiences that could be shown. A daughter probably wouldn’t want to upset her family. But I am hoping for my nephew’s sake that the majority of the time Iraq is like the pics.
