A list of Taiwanese supermarkets

Ok, this is not so much as where I can find something, as where you can find something.
I’ve compiled a list of supermarkets in Taiwan with links to most of their websites and hopefully someone will find this useful.
You can find the list here thelostswede.com/?page_id=21
If anyone has any updates or additional stuff I should add, let me know.

there is one upincoming supermarket.

The one with the blue and white sign, Chuen-lien , looks like an A, seen it in Banciao, Shilin and near Guting station

It was my local supermarket in Taichung. Large branches have quite a few imported goods from south-east Asia and also from Europe. They have some stuff that people posting in the “Where Can I Find” forum found it difficult to get in Taipei. However, I didn’t mention it at the time because I wanted to preserve the illusion that people down south eat zongzi and betelnut all day.

Some people, such as my old boss, think that because the company was originally an agrochemical manufacturer, they know not to let their suppliers put too much pesticide on their veges! I’m not sure about that.

If you go there when the Sinon Bulls baseball team have just won a game, you get an automatic discount.

These stores are GREAT!

Many people refer to them as “The Government Store” because, I have been told, that in the past they were run by the gov’t offering merchandise at a considerable discount.
They are not gov’t run any more, but they are a good place to shop with very good prices.
In the last year I have noticed they are refurbishing their markets and adding a lot of new items.
Good prices, good selection and nice stores.

They do not offer fresh vegetables, fruit or fresh meat however.

You might add… Wellcome is open 24 x 7. Also, Marks & Spencer (2 stores) has some odds and ends from the U.K., 4x more than IKEA does from Sweden. And speaking of convenience, at AsiaWorld, there’s an IKEA (and FNAC) in the basement, a Toys R Us on the 7th floor, and a knocking shop on the top floor.

Pxmart is on the list, just below RT-Mart. Some Pxmarts sell fruit and veg, but most don’t from what I’ve noticed. There’s a big one near Ikea here in Taoyuan, never been in, but they sell fruit and veggies. I guess fresh meant doesn’t include ham and bacon? Although I presume you mean uncooked meat and stuff.
Thanks for the info about Sinon, I’ll update that. I had M&S on an earlier version that I lost due to WordPress mucking up, will add them again, as yes, they do have a lot more food than Ikea in Asia world, but the Ikea here in Taoyuan can have a good selection of stuff at times.

Ok, updated, thanks everyone
