Because I consider all aspect.
Both of them are very talented and they have unique musical vision but neither made/make really great music at the end of the day (which is a matter of preference of course).
Eminem is too ‘wordy’ and his beats are usually not great. Tupac was pretty limited. They both have unique energy and obv star power tho.

Yes. And he was re named after a Peruvian revolutionary. He did ballet in NY.

We forgot to include Prodigy from Mobb Deep in the GOAT list. He was making great music til he died recently and kept getting better. He was one of the few 90s rappers able to adapt to the new era. If you haven’t heard them hegelian dialectic and Albert einstein are sick albums. HNIC is off the charts.
His stuff is holding up better than anyone from the 90s as time goes on.

Big L for me too. Didn’t see his name. Also, DMX. Unfortunately his addiction really got in the way of his music.

I saw big L and big pun freestyle in a studio session in 97 at d and d studio. Big L was unreal in person and live was unparalleled. He stood out more than anyone there live. His records didn’t quite capture how talented he was…
Pun was crazy to hear in person. He clearly was unhealthy and couldn’t even sit without wheezing but when he started rapping was like a different person entirely.
Jadakiss is still dope and one of the best also.
I’ve always wondered what this “ rap” music was . Very interesting , carry on

I listen to all kinds of rap, but I’ve been loving a lot of the really early stuff lately…Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaataa, the Sugar Hill Gang. It’s hard to believe that Rapper’s Delight came out 40 years ago.

This is probably the craziest story in all of rap…also a case study in media bias. Genius mc and nyfd fire chief living a double life til the NYPD ‘exposed’ him…and prob 5x his record sales…
