Stir fried bamboo shoots (available only for a short time in spring) with chicken and salted green onions, followed by a dram of some Bunnahabhain (okay, this is aboriginal only in spirit). Perfection.
Those look more like garlic chives ( allium tuberosum) to me, or a close relative. Any idea exactly what they are?

The names of everything are guesses. “Ra-ji” are the bamboo shoots and “ra-kyu” are the green onions or whatever. Bunnahabhain is pronounced ‘Bunn-na-ha-venn’, and means ’ mouth of the river ’ in Scots Gaelic.
I love supporting the natives of scotland at dinner too.
