Adding extra passport pages-how long?

Anyone tried to go in person to AIT in Taipei to add extra pages to your passport? How long does it take?

Thanks guys.

Do they let you add extra pages to a passport? I thought you had to get a new one if you ran out. Obviously, I dunno

I remember it took a little longer than a week. They had to send it to Honolulu or Hong Kong or something like that. I don’t think they do that anymore, though, so it should be quicker.

Just try to get there early–I hate being trapped in that American Citizen Services office with screaming children and pompous wannabe ABCs who think white people can’t understand Chinese, who sit there and pick apart a nation and its people which they ironically are scrambling to try to get a passport for.

did it last month at the AIT in Kaohsiung. Waited about an hour for my number to be called and then it took about 90 seconds to add the pages. No fees or 2nd trip required.

In answer to your question, yes, you can just add some extra pages, but on the Website it only gives information on doing this by mail (they say one week). I can’t reach a real person on the phone to find out if you can do this in person or not.

By the way, it takes 3 WEEKS to get a new passport through AIT Taipei and 8 WEEKS through the Naha, Okinawa U.S. consulate if anyone needs to know. So, if like me you have to do a visa run quickly, and you just found out that they require 4 blank pages to give you a visa, you’ve got a problem.

Kozmocat,

Thanks so much for the information. :notworthy:
Hopefully I can do the same in Taipei. I think I’m going to try on Monday.

I don’t know Taipei so well. Can anybody help me with how to get to AIT from the train station?

If you don’t know Taipei, the easiest way would be to take the MRT east toward Kunyang. Transfer to the Muzha line at Zhongxiao-Fuxing. Get off at Da’an. Then walk west along Xinyi Road for 5-10 minutes until you get to AIT. If you reach the park you’ve gone too far.

anybody know if you can do this for a pommie passport? i’ve almost run out …

What’s the address and opening hours?

According to this website, no. I’m fairly certain Australia doesn’t let you do it either, which is why the question surprised me.

Hey all,

I’ve got the answer, at least for AIT Taipei and U.S. passports. My friend just called from Taipei, and said he tried it today (my inquiry reminded him to go). It only took about an hour.

daasgirl, I checked that Website out. I notice it’s for UK passports. Perhaps Brits can’t do this trick? I dunno.

Yes, that’s right, because the bear was asking about ‘Pommie’ (British) passports. It does seem to be different! Glad yours is sorted though

I’ve done it at the consulate in Hong Kong. It was instantaneous (practically).
