Advice needed - bringing TV and PC from Bangkok- good idea?

I’m moving from Bangkok to Taipei soon and wondering whether my TV would work OK in Taiwan and pick up all the channels available. It’s a 24" Samsung and about 18months old. I bought it in Bangkok from a reputable store. Also my PC should work OK over here I presume??
Finally I am visiting the UK over the summer - is there anything which you can recommend that I bring with me (other than books) that are expensive/unavailable in Taipei.

Thanks!!

I have no idea what they are in Thailand, but here voltage is 110V (some houses have 220V plugs for airconditioners) and the TV standard is NTSC - anything else slinky needs to know? Anyone?

I guessing your TV is PAL (the tv system in Thailand), But Taiwan, Burma, and a handful of other places use NTSC. So that would be a problem. And I doubt you could connect to the cable here either.
PC wouldn’t be a problem, Taiwan uses 110V, you might have to check the PSU, if you know what you’re doing, it’s probably better to take the insides out and rebuild when you get here to save on weight.

( From personal experience! ) … if you need it / them you should stock up on antacids / indigestion remedies which are difficult to get. You may also want to bring some cough syrups ( I haven’t found any of those here )… vitamin supplements if you take them are probably best picked up during your trip to the UK and brought back.

I did manage to stock up on “lucozade” from Jason’s supermarket on my last visit… shall be bringing back a stock of Irn Bru from the UK visit this summer since I haven’t managed to find any of that !

Most other import stuff you can get ( although double the UK price in most cases ) if you hunt around for it.

For books ( in English ) you can visit the new Page One bookshop in the Taipei 101 tower which has a pretty wide selection - you may have to pay a bit more than the UK price but not much more.

Transformers you can get here ( 220 V sockets which can convert the wall output 110 V ) although I would suggest you probably want to pick up the actual plug converters which will ‘convert’ 3 pin-UK to 2-pin US style ( so - if you have any - you can plug UK style plugs into the transformer )… I picked up 2 plug converters ( at a UK airport ) *these don’t convert the power so you still need a transformer

If I think of anything else… shall post on here !

I would just sell the TV in Thailand. Why bother with all that extra weight?
The PC should be ok as long as you use a power convertor. I’ve used Taiwanese electronics in Thailand that way before and had no problem.

It’s always a good idea to stock up on deodorant. It’s pricey here and the selection is crap.

Most PCs have a power supply ranging from 110-230V, so it shouldn
