hi! i’m wondering if i am allowed to work in taiwan as an a.r.c holder while waiting for my taiwan ID? i’ve been here for 8 months now
As a holder of a AF353 TARC you should be allowed to work under Article 51 of the Employment Services Act as an individual permitted to live with their lineal relatives who have a registered domestic residence in the Republic of China.
But you should probably contact WDA to figure out how you can:
- prove your eligibility to employers.
- if there are restrictions in the categories of work you can take up.
my prospective employer is asking me if i have a work permit because it doesn’t indicate that i do in my ARC. should i apply for one? and if yes, do you have an idea of how long it will take and how much?
Wish I can help, but I have no idea what is the best way to prove it. This is the part where I think you need to ask WDA directly, how to best prove your eligibility to work to employers.
i already applied for one today! appreciate your help.
An open work permit? It will get rejected. I thought I would give it a try but at least I got an answer.
WDA assumes you’re eligible for the exemption based on the law allowing NWOHR without other nationalities to work without a permit. So just get your boss to call them and give your TARC details and they’ll just tell him you’re exempted.
