African man seeks wife in Taipei

This might have been posted here already, so if it was please move to correct thread. There was a man from a country in Africa, not sure which one, he was shown in TVBS news standing on the streets in Taipei, well dressed, carrying a sign in Chinese, that looked like a religious come on, but no, it said “I am looking for a wife here”. The camera crew interviewed him and he said that he was indeed looking for a wife in Taipei, and he was lonely and he hoped this method would attract someone.

Who is this man?

Did he have any luck?

Did the English newspapers ever report on this?

This happened during summer vacation, about a month ago.

Hmmmm… never thought of that straight-forward method. :astonished:

It was a two minute news segment on TVBS a few weeks ago. Surely, somebody saw him on the streets.

It certainly was innovative… :bravo:

I guess nobody saw this. Maybe I was dreaming. But I am sure I saw the guy on TV, they repeated the news segment over and over on a Sunday, but nobody here saw it. Moving on…

So, you do you think if I got meself dressed up and stood on the corner with a sign in Chinese saying, “Looking for one night of hot, meaningless sex with a sexy babe here,” I’d have as much luck as this African guy?

I mean, it doesn’t seem any worse than getting drunk and picking up chicks in bars, as seems to be the preferred method amongst male expats in Taiwan…

well, i don’t hink that dude had any luck, because nobody saw him on the street and nobody saw him on TV, just me. So he obviously never existed. I was hoping for some kind of validation for what I was certain i saw on the tube one night, but since nobody here ever heard of this guy or saw him standing in front of the RR station in Taipei with a big street sign in Chinese… surely SOMEBODY saw him or SAW this on TV, no? Not a one?

Why don’t you go and stand on the street with a sign that says “Did you see that African bloke on TV looking for a wife”?

Good idea. How to write that in Chinese?

Hmm… you could try:

“如果你願意給我一餐飯…我願意脫褲子給你看”

You won’t get an answer to your question, but it’ll be fun for all involved.

You say that asif it’s a bad thing…

Seriously though, meeting people at a bar, on the internet, by chance or through friends… What’s the difference really? What you do after you met the person, and how you conduct yourself in the relationship is what really counts…
