Opinions, experiences?
I think sending Fullbright et al. teachers is a great bandaid but not medium or long term very useful for Taiwan
For an inexperienced teacher, these are useful and do double duty on the CV
If you’re experienced and already in Taiwan, I don’t think you’re who they’re looking for…
They look like recruiters for any random crap school (could be public or private??) that can’t find a foreigner.
The salary is somewhere between $2,000 and a limited number are $2,800? So, assuming that’s USD, roughly NT$60k to a max possible salary of NT$84k
Public school salaries start at almost 65k now and you’d get at least 5k on top for housing (if single) or 10k if living with family. Plus you’d get NT$40k each way airfare for you and a family member. So if you have a teaching license, you can get at least ~NT$70k (if you’ve never worked in a real school before)
Better than Fulbright (their max teaching “stipend” is NT$50k, but pretty much everyone is only getting NT$40k/month) but worse than pretty much any random job that any random person can get if they just show up to a school with a TESOL certificate and a pulse.
