Air pollution levels in Taiwan - grim reading

CO concentration and wind direction. Some effect from China but notice it’s worse around Taiwan.

And China is horrific.

A lot of ‘organic’ labelled vegies at the supermarket are from Yunlin. Makes you wonder…

…Between them and the rice and eggs from Changhua. .
And the supposed rice from Hualien that is somehow processed in Changhua?
Taiwan’s food chain issues are immense.

I remember a while back they tested some rice labelled organic, supposedly from Fuli. You guessed it, it was another of the old product switcharoo.

So sad, that people in his own family weren’t supporting his cause. What a legend for continuing. [Speaking of the main campaigner in the YT video]

Great charts!
How up-to-date is this data?

Maybe about 5 years ago?

Incoming, I guess? Worst of several worlds in Danshui at the moment: it’s been foggy, significantly cooler, with dumb spitting rain all day; in the past hour the previously grayish haze has become decidedly browner, and it’s starting to stink outside. The maps suggest this has just hit the coast and will head inland over the next little bit.

Yeah, right now it’s kinda hard to tell how much of it is fog and how much is smog. Had very clear skies this morning, guessing it’s mostly, or all, smog. :frowning:
I’m in Xindian.

Monday’s air pollution forecast—yikes.

Good report in English

I’ve never had a problem with air pollution here. Noise pollution on the other hand is driving me crazy. What I wouldn’t give to eradicate noise from the neighbors, construction, car alarms, scooters, people spitting loudly to name a few. I suppose we are all triggered by different things!

I see baby steps lately—not as swift as we might like, but still happening—as fewer petro scooters and (to a lesser extent) petro buses roar along the roads. Our cities will feel so much better when these noisy vehicles are finally gone.

Ear plugs.
However you will need to have the wax drained at least once a year.
Since I left Taiwan I have not worn them. Although walking on a busy road recently reminded me of Taipei and I wished I had a pair on hand…

What is the link for these wonderful forecast charts, please?

I just bought an air quality monitor called the Kaiterra Laser Egg. Anyone else have this?
