Yunlin had worst air pollution in 2020, and many years before.
And think about the huge industrial complexes like Formosa Petrochemical.
And think about the huge coal burning power plants in the area. Some of the largest in the world.
And think about what that says about the farm produce like rice and vegetables grown there.
And chicken and cow milk farms.
And think about what that says about the health of people living there.
Yunlin and Changhua just beside, have the highest rate of cancer in Taiwan, which has the highest rate of cancer in Asia (info available in another thread here somewhere).
âŚBetween them and the rice and eggs from Changhua. .
And the supposed rice from Hualien that is somehow processed in Changhua?
Taiwanâs food chain issues are immense.
Incoming, I guess? Worst of several worlds in Danshui at the moment: itâs been foggy, significantly cooler, with dumb spitting rain all day; in the past hour the previously grayish haze has become decidedly browner, and itâs starting to stink outside. The maps suggest this has just hit the coast and will head inland over the next little bit.
Yeah, right now itâs kinda hard to tell how much of it is fog and how much is smog. Had very clear skies this morning, guessing itâs mostly, or all, smog.
Iâm in Xindian.
Iâve never had a problem with air pollution here. Noise pollution on the other hand is driving me crazy. What I wouldnât give to eradicate noise from the neighbors, construction, car alarms, scooters, people spitting loudly to name a few. I suppose we are all triggered by different things!
I see baby steps latelyânot as swift as we might like, but still happeningâas fewer petro scooters and (to a lesser extent) petro buses roar along the roads. Our cities will feel so much better when these noisy vehicles are finally gone.
Ear plugs.
However you will need to have the wax drained at least once a year.
Since I left Taiwan I have not worn them. Although walking on a busy road recently reminded me of Taipei and I wished I had a pair on handâŚ
