Airline: Air Asia within Thailand?

Anyone heard of them? Used them? They seem to fly all over Asia and have a substantial website.

I’d like to use them, if they are reputable, because their price between Chiang Mai and Bangkok is about $1,300 per person (after adding 50% tax) rather than $2,800 with Bangkok Airways. For that matter, is Bangkok Airways the biggest fish in those waters?

Thanks.

No way! I can’t believe it. You people have a stinkin’ opinion about everything normally. Really, no one has heard of or flown on Air Asia?

Inconceivable!”

Well, it’s not the same as first-hand info, but here’s something, and it’s all positive. Reviews:

Air Asia is a Malaysian based budget airline and I have flown them countless times - all over South East Asia. So far I have pretty good experience with them, don’t expect much as they are a no-frills airline. You need to buy their drinks/food/etc. Keep in mind that their check-in luggage is limited to only 15kgs, I didn’t realise it and got screwed the first time I traveled with them.

I’ve flown Air Asia quite a few times within Thailand. I have never had a problem. I have heard a lot of complaints from others who have faced long delays with them, but I’ve been pretty lucky. As long as you are going on a route that they fly at least a couple of times per day, you shouldn’t have to face any lengthy delays.

Air Asia is a reputable and well ran airline. They just opened up 2 new routes to Thailand from KL and someother place in east bumf*ck that I forget.

That really is my concern. I now have an 0820 flight with them, and a connection in Bangkok to catch later with 1-1/2 hours between, and I’m wondering if they can all get out of bed early enough to make that work.
