✈ 🇪🇺 Airlines | European airlines with free stopovers?

Icelandair - (Reykjavik ) 7 days. I just went last year (didn’t take advantage of it, unfortunately).

Aer Lingus - (Dublin) 7 days. Would love to go, but they are striking. Pilots are asking for a (25%!) raise. Europeans love their strikes.

Any other good ones? Germany? Austria?

I’m coming from Latvia.

They should stop doing it and just rely on tips.

Two years ago Swedish pilots made me cancel my trip to Lithuania.

:star_struck:

Sorry I got distracted there. What’s this thread about again?

Thanks. Was going to dig up that thread. As you know, search isn’t the best feature of this site.

So, their strike was a success.

Turkish flies into Riga, stopover in Istanbul (Euro side), flies to Shanghai/beijing or what ever is your home airport.

That one is only 20 hours

I don’t know, did they get their raise?

20 hours for what? Its 3-4 hours from Riga to Istanbul, then 9 hours to Hong Kong/Taipei maybe, if your going to Shanghai its about same. Stopover can be three days or maybe more if you want, hotels in Istanbul are not expensive.

@OysterOmelet is American so he flies out of the US.

He posts about Taiwan but he never actually seems to come here.

He’s always visiting Europe for some reason.

See Istanbul?

I want to visit Turkey, but I want to do Israel and Turkey together, but there might be a war in Israel so not this year.

Then is going to USA from Riga, maybe FinnAir or LOT (via Warsaw), Riga has mostly Air Baltic flights so not as many airline choices as other Baltic Airports.

He posts about Taiwan but he never actually seems to come here.

Yes, odd to post here then.

See @OysterOmelet ? You should come and visit us some day! If you come to Taiwan, you can then try the Turkish Airlines stopover option on the way to Latvia. Win Win Win!

Yes, and 777’s have 9 seats across, still nice but not as nice as Japan Airlines/ANA.

Stopover deals a lot, Also could fly to Taiwan on Turkish, so he can come to Taiwan or Asia easy, but still Taiwan has nice airlines, maybe like USA to Taiwan to Europe on EVA or China Air.

Layovers should be at a discount, no? Outside of paying the tax for exiting the airport, they ought to be selling their inconveniencesto customers at a discount, not a premium.

Don’t let the cat out of the bag, extending their 24 hour waste of your life to a week is a fair trade.

yes, in some cases great deals, like Qatar stopover, nice hotels at 25$ per 24 hours. (Interesting city, but real hot like 45c, makes KHH seem like Hawaii).

Ahh sorry. Maybe I misunderstood. Does stopover mean including accommodation or other tour type packages?

Taiwanese airlines have some stop over packages, and city tour, so can fly USA to Europe via Taiwan. I have not tried this tour, I wonder if I could for free if just arrive to Taiwan?

Free

Also Free, with Free Metro Ticket and more local tour.

What exactly is a free stopover? What part of the stopover is free as opposed to what you have to pay elsewhere?
