✈ Airlines | StarLux

Love this guy. He really doesn’t want to show his face and tries to keep things professional, to the point where he blurs his own tiny reflection in a window 15m away lol.

I bet it’s pretty cool for him to buy the A350 and fly it. That’s next level type of success.

Per news story a few hard landings results in possible fines.

They need to be punished if crews were forced to work excessive hours without compensation, but not a lot can be against the airline if they had to divert due to weather, or delays caused be other flights ahead.

As to the “Hard Landings” as long as the crew were within the rules set by the company regarding crosswinds etc and within the aircraft limitations, well tough, the journalists who whinged need to realise that the wind is not always constant.

Tough what? Loon at the picture below. They could have killed hundreds of people. This is also due to Taoyuan airport remaining open as the typhoon was in the vicinity.

Wind shear is known to be among the most dangerous phenomena a plane will encounter on landing or take off. They are supposed to avoid taking off or landing when thunder storms are in the vicinity due to microbursts and wind shear , for example.

The ‘hard landings’ mentioned here could otherwise be known as ‘near disasters’.

‘On a wing and a prayer’. See how close the wingtip got to hitting the ground.

I don’t get the article. What is the actual issue.

They said

the flight crews generally complied with operating restrictions on the aircraft type, it said, adding that no damage on the aircraft was found after landing.

Generally complied means what?

Hard landing also sounds ambiguous. Wish they would explain what this actually means and what rules they broke.

I think it’s a euphenism for a dangerous landing attempt or landing. Would be good if an actual pilot piped up here but so far they are keeping stum.

JX really pushing hard on JP routes, and tbf it might work in making them an established regional player then to expand more long-haul:

New in flight WiFi is coming. I wonder how good it will be. I’ve never had a in flight wifi that could do something like stream videos.

https://www.adsadvance.co.uk/viasat-s-enhanced-ifc-rolled-out-across-starlux-fleet.html

Starlink currently has the best speeds for in flight wifi. But it is not enabled in some countries due to regulations.

So one should be able to get an HD quality stream as not all passengers will do video streaming.

Been able to stream video with ViaSat on Delta (and I’m sure others) for a few years now (sometimes better than others, obviously).

Eva air unfortunately doesn’t provide any complimentary wifi (not even in Business or for gold/diamond members). Same for CI as I recall.

I tried it on Turkish and I could message and use apps like fb and IG, but no video streams. Also Japanese carriers don’t seem to embrace the wifi onboard that much.

I got it complimentary in business on CI to Europe.

yeah, now that u mention. Not flying them often, so I forgot. I stand corrected

This should be unsurprising to anyone flying to North America on any Taiwan carrier lately.

I recently flew a leg of my trip on StarLux business class. One thing that surprised me is that their business class entertainment system doesn’t have the function to connect to your personal bluetooth headsets. I mean the business class headset they provided is nice, but it’s odd that they took away that option.
