Hello
Where betel leaves is used what is application of it why people eat them

The primary use of betel leaf is as a wrapper for the chewing of areca nut or tobacco where it is mainly used to add flavour. It may also be used in cooking, usually raw, for its peppery taste.

(thanks, I learned something today)

Hello
What you learn today
i have scan it how to get it study it leaf

Its used more commonly in Thailand and Malay for a small wrap for food.

Think Taiwan zhongzhi style but the leaf is used as part of the edible dish and as a spice. I’ve sold it for years, and the customers are 99.9% we Asian for flavor. Their species, or maybe a variety, is slightly different than the Taiwan type. I’ve collected it and grow a few plants here, they are somewhat different. Taiwan also uses the flower in betel but chew, called red lime (hong hwei). Must better tasting and recognised locally as worse for cancer but never seen proof.

I have always wondered if the species is an interesting pepper type if allowed to mature, but the betel but industry in Taiwan is far more profitable than obscure Asian spices here (thanks soy sauce and msg…) so its not used as far as I know. Think long pepper, Piper longum.

Hello
Where are you from

Ritesh,
Here is what Wikipedia says about Paan Betel;

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paan

Here in Indonesia, Betel leaf (Piper Betel) is called Daun Sirih. It is used as a wrapping for the fruit of the Areca Palm (Buah Pinang) which is combined with slaked lime paste as in Taiwan. Its use has disappeared from urban areas but still is consumed in rural settings, mostly by older people.

Note the betel leaf is a leaf sometimes used to wrap things and is more like a spice. This plant as mentioned is Piper betel and a shade loving creeper/vine closely related to black pepper.

The white vegetable above is the betel nut, areca catechu, which is a skinny palm tree. The flowers before they burst are used as a vegetable, similar in texture to small bamboo shoots or sugar cane shoots. Delicious, one of my favorite dishes. If only they would stop adding salad dressing, mayonnaise or chocolate sprinkles which seems so bad and out of place for a relatively expensive vegetable dish. You can cook it yourself it’s easy. Just get the flowers before they emerge from the leaf that envelopes them. Once they burst, they get really tough and not edible. might as well just let the fruits form and use them for the betel nut chew then.

RITESH
Are you asking about Piper betel or Areca catechu. Both species grow commonly throughout SE Asia, including India.
