Alternative Chiropractors to Dr. Mark in Taipei

Looks like Dr. Mark has some competition.

Anyone been to these guys’ office?

I can crack your bones too.

Can’t be any worse than the old quackster.

There’s lots playing that game in Taiwan, and all over the world for that matter, it’s not as if the barrier to entry is particularly high!   If you can keep a straight face as you tell someone their liver is misaligned causing them to have a sore ankle you’re halfway there.

I realize that there are a fair share of quaks in the profession.

But god damn does a proper back cracking feel good. My experience (not with Dr. Mark) with a chiro in Canada led to much better posture, mobility, and flexibility.

The title is confusing as a Chiropractor is already alternative.

Burn!

If his bakery is anything to go by, I’d stay away.

There were a few characters back then, too.

On a more serious note, is this stuff safe? Has anybody done it with personally good results - or the opposite?

I have never had a chiropractic adjustment but from the main wiki article on it, it seems pretty clear that scientifically the alleged benefits are way way outweighed by the risk of what objectively seems like a really forceful and potentially imprecise action(s) to be performing on a very sensitive and crucial part of the body.

I had it when I had a herniated lumbar disc. It seemed to be of benefit for me. Certainly the pain would diminish after each session.

Safe enough.

Our love of being in front of a screen isn’t great for our necks/backs. Chiro is a remedy for this. It’s not going to cure cancer, but it can help correct the impact of poor posture.

Personally I always feel a bit better after a session. Think of it as white people’s Chinese medicine.

I don’t like the actual cracking part so when I used to get it done the guy did deep tissue manipulation instead at my request which was so good to free up my neck muscles.
