Ancient City in Northern China?

Seems pretty big to be found away from body of water (river, lake, sea, etc)

We usually see carvings like that on bronze-ware found in China. Seeing it on stone gives it a completely different feel. In some ways it almost looks Mayan.

The articles says it is in the Tuwei river basin

4,300 years ago, there were still a lot of glacial runoffs from the end of the last glacial maximum. Most of the lakes from Central Asia to the Yangtze river basin were much much larger than they are today. Much of Northwest China were even forested, or were lush grasslands.

For example, according to this paper, Lake Dalinur and the surrounding areas were one huge lake:
