Anti-abortion GOPers promote abortion

Every time you think they can’t possibly get any stupider, they surprise you:
Republicans on a Colorado state Senate committee this week voted to end a contraception program that proponents said had helped to reduce the teen birthrate by 40 percent in recent years.

“Senate Republicans on the State, Veterans, and Military Affairs Committee defeated legislation to continue the Long Acting Reversible Contraception or ‘LARC’ program, a bipartisan bill to reduce unintended pregnancies and abortions,” a statement from Democratic state Sen. Mary Hodge noted on Wednesday.

Hodge explained that the teen birthrate had dropped dramatically during the five-year period that the program was privately funded, but the funding had run out.

“The program was effective, helping the teen birth rate in Colorado drop 40 percent from 2009 through 2013,” according to the statement. “The abortion rate also dropped 42 percent in the same time period."
Because they actually don’t give a crap about abortion; what they want is to be able to punish ‘sluts’.

it’ll change once their daughters get pregnant again.

Wait, that can’t be right. All republicans are secretly gay, and don’t have daughters.

You trollin’?

I don’t know if you’re aware of this, but contraceptives are cheap and readily available at pharmacies.

True, but teenagers are f’ing stupid. And unfortunately there’s no IQ test you have to pass before you procreate.

You’d think evolution would have arranged for sex to be a whole lot more complicated, wouldn’t you?

I’m sure the government will get right on it.

The neopuritans are doing what they can on campus with affirmative consent and the rape culture hysteria. That’s starting too late. What we need to do is make stupid, horny teenagers get all neurotic about sex. Teach them that if they get it on a slasher in a hockey mask will kill them at summer camp. That’ll do it.

It’s because a successful government program doesn’t really mesh with their ineffective government meme and must be destroyed, otherwise, people might think government can actually do some good. Why does anyone vote for people whose whole thing is they are, by their own definition, ineffective and incompetent. “Government sucks, vote for me so I can suck too.” They are all walking self-fulfilling prophecies…cuz they really do suck. :America:

If this is true I wonder why the Dems didn’t kill it.

In 2017, the state of Iowa decided to defund Planned Parenthood. At the time, state lawmakers pushing for the bill claimed that allowing Planned Parenthood to accept Medicaid reimbursements for things that were not related to abortion “freed up” funds for abortion.

I’m sure that worked out totally well.

The number of abortions performed in Iowa climbed nearly 14% in 2020, after jumping 25% the previous year, new state data show.

Iowa had seen years of steady declines in abortions before 2019. But that trendline has changed.

The state saw 4,058 abortions performed in 2020, up from 3,566 in 2019 and 2,849 in 2018, the new numbers show.
> The new statistics mean that Iowa’s abortion rate has shot up a total of 42% between 2018 and 2020. Over the previous decade, the number had dropped 56%.
The new data were shared with legislative staff Thursday by the Iowa Department of Public Health.

Gee, what could have changed?

The turnaround in abortion numbers came in the wake of Iowa’s 2017 decision to withdraw from a federally funded family planning program, which helped thousands of Iowans gain birth control supplies and information on how to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. The program was replaced with a state-run version, which barred Planned Parenthood’s participation and[ has served fewer Iowans.(DHS report shows 75% drop in Iowans using family planning program)

Isn’t that obviously true, you know, with money being fungible and all?
