OMG did you actually go thru with this???
Sadly, things have been moving very slowly.
I have prepared many of the documents needed on my part months ago, but everything came to a halt because the local authorities there needed an in-person interview and I believe we need to attend some trainings etc too.
Although I visited Philippines several times, I never had more than a few days to tackle this. I am planning a longer stay (maybe a month or two) in the Philippines sometime this year so we can hopefully clear much of the adoption process there, then we will figure out how to get it accepted in Taiwan. I have already contacted a lawyer here who’ll help me but first I need to finish the process there.
I have also thought about this from another perspective. As long as things are clear in the Philippines, and we are legally considered the parents there, then it doesn’t matter even if Taiwan doesn’t accept or take years to process it. We don’t have to live in Taiwan together. If the documents can be accepted internationally, we could just move elsewhere until her adoption in Taiwan is complete or she is old enough to come in on a student visa.
Why not make another kid?
Someone with your genes???
less complications
As I understand it. It’s not about having another child, but giving an abandoned kid a family.
This is not something many people would consider doing.
